I Am Samson -

I Am Samson is the brother/sister duo of Josh and Anna Tigges. Home is outside Washington DC in the dancing woodlands of northern Virginia. Josh's gift in songwriting and guitar is contrasted by Anna's expertise in singing and piano performance.

Josh studied songwriting at James Madison University and has toured his music as a solo artist from the Atlantic to Pacific coast. His use of truth, concrete imagery, and melody in his writing make you feel like a part of the story he is telling.

Anna tells a story when she sings and plays piano. Her musical resume is better told the human ear. You'll be refreshed on a hot summer day when the cool waterfall of Anna's voice cools your face.

Josh and Anna both believe music is part of who God made them. Josh was working software sales in Seattle and Anna was a manager at a coffee shop in Virginia. After playing many concerts together, late night jam sessions, conversations over coffee, and prayer, they had a peace about quitting their jobs and pursuing music full time.

Samson is a Hebrew name that means "bright sun." The man Samson in the Bible was a broken human that God still found worthy to do His work. I Am Samson is two people, two siblings, that assembled their unique gifts together and are bringing some truth and light to the world.
After working a soul draining social media marketing job with FOX Broadcasting in Los Angeles, CA, Josh humbly moved home for a year to pay off his student loans working at his families bed and breakfast, Zion Springs. Near the end of his time at Zion Springs, Josh planned, recorded, and released his second EP, Patience Plea on October 19, 2014.

Josh’s music is Josh. He believes that everyone else has been done before, and why try to be like them and rob his fans of his own creative writing skill, vocal tone, and his personality that make his music identifiably different. With folk undertones of Mumford and Sons, vocal energy of punk rock, and catchy melodies that will get stuck in your head for days; Josh calls his music, “power indie.”

There are no masks when Josh performs. Josh is himself and opens the diary of his heart for the public to read. This allows everyone to take their masks off as well and feel at home in a strange club that now feels a lot like Josh’s living room.
