Korrina having tried to reason with 10 dangerous wild animals (black mamba, Nile crocodile, lion, black rhinoceros, cape buffalo, polar bear, southern cassowary, North American cougar, lammergeier and secretary bird) in the 5-minute wrestling intermission to no avail, realizes that she has to leave the Wildlife Auction and Court and find help. She despairs at leaving her pride (jury), but knows that she has no choice. 
Tamino and the royal pride offer their blessings to George's friend (Korrina) as she sets off on her journey to find Kim (Kyururu) in the Swan Lake (with trumpeter swans) in Cincinnati Zoo.

TEXT is a new comic chamber opera with music composed by Michael Bascom and libretto written by Clare Best.

When Don and Denise invite Bill, Chloe and Beth to share a meal and a few bottles of wine, the evening looks set to be light-hearted, until a surprising text message causes mayhem in the group of close friends. TEXT takes a wry look at the layers and tangled threads of communication between us, and asks what really binds friends and lovers.

This contemporary classical work was premiered as a live-stream in the Milton Court Studio Theatre at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in July 2021 as part of the MA in Opera Making & Writing, a collaboration between the composition and opera departments at GSMD, in association with the Royal Opera House.
