seasons pass quickly but these pictures help slow
the fall of these memories with our dreams and the snow

one to many deckchairs that we couldn’t unfold 
and I tried to tell a story in the failing light 
but I couldn’t find the words or get the ending right

an awful lot of tears mixed up in the rain 
and we tried to read a poem by the harbour lights 
but we fell into the crosshairs of our own skewed sights

we hid a lot of truths beneath those colourful clothes 
and I tried to paint a picture of what’s going on in my mind 
but it came out all wrong because I was working blind

sifting through an old box as you wonder how 
all your once favourite toys can mean nothing now
