A well known tradition on Bonaire is the Simadan party; a folk festival celebrating the sorghum harvest. The music features back-and-forth singing from one group to another accompanied by such instruments as the guitar, marimba, bari (drum), karko (conchshell)..., and triangle. Hand-clapping also drives the rhythm. The wapa is the Simadan dance which is a rhythmic, back-and-forth shuffle dance. Rows of people embrace, symbolizing the cooperative effor and interacting with each other to a steady beat. Another one of the best-known songs sung during the Simadan is Remailo. Cd-album Kunuku

Born and bred in Rincon, the cradle of Bonaire's rich culture. Inspired by people from his surroundings making music he got the taste and followed the trace. Challenged and stimulated by schoolmates, he started his solo career as singer and member of the church choirs on Bonaire and Curaçao. And the window opened from where he could showcase his talents to the world. Gradually, he came into contact with different promoters of local talents on Curaçao and got a huge "push" by Humberto Nivi and Norwien "Nochi" Willems. Also in surrounding countries in South America and the Caribbean his performances were experienced as pleasant. While feeling fine with having a regular day job, he is so excited to be an artist too. In his book Musika Maestro he tells more about his artistic experiences.

"A certain softness and quietness, generally extremely sensitive, versatile, usually on the surface nice, friendly and a pliable person."

Discography

   Though he made many studio recordings on the islands, it had not come to release a LP or 45 rpm. But later came a change when he moved to the Netherlands. His first CD-single “A helping hand” was released in 1992 following by many other releases produced by himself supported with grants of cultural funds and business centre. He has particular attention to traditional songs of the Netherlands Antilles written by leading Antillean composers of years past. Songs that until now were unknown and never been recorded and songs that have fallen into oblivion. Most of them in Papiamento language. William Anthony also turned to be a musical handyman by restoring some traditional songs in the original state.

Television

   His debut as an actor was in the Dutch TV series “Duel in de diepte” playing Feliciano's henchman Marco. He has also appeared as extra in several series and commercials.
