My wonderful Gail passed away on Sunday January 10th after battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer for almost six years. During that time she endured over 60 chemotherapy treatments, 30 radiation treatments and myriad procedures that were both painful and humiliating.  In all that time, Gail never complained once.
I miss her profoundly in my life, and I am grateful for the time we had together.
I am truly, thinking of Gail and in that spirit I have repurposed this song that she really loved...

Someday My Prince Will Come (Duet/FluteJazz Album)

This is my flute teacher, Paige Brook. I was a page turner for the harpist when this was recorded in the early '70'S. It was recorded with two microphones in one take into a two-track mastering setup.
My thoughts and affection for Paige and his incredibly unselfish approach to ensemble playing still move me.

Dialogue for Two Flutes

.... my love of the flute, (and my addiction to playing one), has consumed most of my life..

In the early '80's,  my focus widened from playing and performing, into modifying and eventually creating my own instruments, which are based upon my playing style..

The "Duet/FluteJazz" album was recorded live, (in two different clubs) in Boston and Cambridge, MA (circa 1986). The flute I am playing on is Williams flute #1, the first of about 200 I have made. 

The flute effects are controlled via ten foot pedals during the performance. It was pretty radical at the time, but I think the music still works..

Soundcloud (and the denizens thereof) is my first destination each morning and my last stop every night...
