2013 – Present (less than a year) Longman

Bringing together all of my previous experience I am standing up to see the people within the Longman Electorate represented and heard. 

I have chosen to run for a seat in Longman particularly to impact on two key areas of focus. Family and Small Business. I believe that small business is the lifeblood and families, the building blocks of any community. I've seen the struggle of the small business operator through my occupation in the Accounting, Coaching and Financial Services Firm over the past few years. During this time I also volunteered as an executive member in a Chamber of Commerce as well as an Assistant Pastor. To me there is no greater way of stimulating a community then supporting and building these two areas. In fact it was the Caboolture News that said “According to ABS data, in the past year the federal electorate of Longman has experienced the biggest decline in businesses.” And we don’t need to look far to see the impact this has had on the family unit.

I’d like to see priority placed on actually supporting these businesses rather than vague promises to reduce unemployment. Without the structures to nurture work and home and encourage employers to grow and employ more, ”business parks” and new business buildings will be pointless. 

Better business, more jobs, increased financial security and happier families will see the Longman Electorate turned out of the grim outlook that many see at present. We can inject hope and make a real change away from the Woolworths and Coles style politics that we have borne witness to. And I propose we start to create that change now.

Family First has a plan to reduce taxes, to reduce government waste and to reduce regulation. In effect, we want to get the government ‘off your back and out of your pocket and encourage our Nation to move forward!’
