The original SATB version of My Lord Has Come was written in 2010 and included in Carols For Choirs 5 published by Oxford University Press.  This heartfelt setting of words by the composer begins with a pianissimo drone over which the sopranos introduce the expressive melody. With lush harmonies, moments of dynamic intensity, and an overriding sense of awe, it would make an ideal centrepiece for a Christmas or Epiphany concert or service. My Lord Has Come has been recorded by Tenebrae on their album The Call of Wisdom.

On 5 June 2012 The Call of Wisdom was presented on the occasion of a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, for the 60th Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, performed by the specially auditioned Diamond Choir, formed of children from all over the UK, alongside choristers of St Paul’s Cathedral and the Chapel Royal, conducted by Andrew Carwood.

Words by Michael Hampel (based on Proverbs 8).  The Call of Wisdom exists in SATB and SSA versions both with organ.  It is included on the recording The Call of Wisdom by Tenebrae in its SATB version.

Other Info: A setting of the Latin text from the Roman Missal, Requiem is the opening movement of a larger work entitled Songs of Peace, which was written in memory of Iris Todd. The text is very powerful and personal in different ways to different people, and it should therefore be a leading element of the performance of this piece. True piano singing should help create a better contrast with the louder sections and help with the dynamic shape in general, of which there is plenty to observe. A gentle rubato can also be applied in places to really enjoy the harmonies and bring across the meaning of the text.

Blessed are the Peacemakers was commissioned by Enid Merrit to celebrate the musical career of Paul Merrit. The piece was premiered in Canada at First-St Andrew's United Church, London, Ontario in 2016. Blessed Are The Peacemakers can be performed with piano or orchestra.

Take Away My Sorrow​ was commissioned by Simon Fidler in 2018 in memory of his father, Eric Fidler, for Voices Of Hope, the UK’s 2016 Choir of the Year. The words of this poignant carol were written by the composer. Take Away My Sorrow is featured on Voices Of Hope's album A New Christmas.

This tender piece expresses gratitude and awe for the redeeming power of the Christ-child. Replete with rich contrasting harmonies, the changing metre and effective phrasing build anticipation before the piece resolves into serenity.

Commissioned by Jason Throne for Unionville High School Chorale and  Brandywine Valley Chorale in 2024 this setting of the famous O Magnum Mysterium text weaves interlocking vocal lines over a piano drone with percussion and saxophone accompaniment.

This setting of See Amid The Winter’s Snow was written for Philip Redfern and the choir of St George’s School, Edinburgh.  Written for female voices and piano, it was first performed in December 2014. An arrangement for SA & Piano, Harp, Strings and Glockenspiel is featured on the new album All Will Be Well with Will Todd and Voices of Hope.

" The lovely words, which I’ve adapted slightly from the 19th-century carol by Edward Caswall, have been a part of my Christmas celebrations for as long as I can remember, and there are several wonderful tunes associated with the text. In writing this new melody I wanted to explore again the timeless nature of the poetry. This setting should be performed with a gentle forward energy but always with a legato and expressive sound."

On This Night is a new lyric to a commission from 2019 of a three movement choral and big band work Praise All Things Choral Suite written for Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Texas. The original 2nd movement was a setting of Psalm 150.

"I have created an alternative Christmas lyric for this piece as a stand-alone for my album All Will Be Well. The glowing jazzy melody inspired the lyrics celebrating the Christmas message"

Formerly called Chorale, this is the final movement from the choral suite Songs of Renewal, commissioned by Benjamin Goodson and Bath Camerata in 2018. The movement was originally scored for SATB a cappella but as a stand alone can be performed with this piano accompaniment.

Let All The People Praise You is a setting of words from Psalm 67 for SATB and piano with
optional bass, drums and alto sax. The anthem was commissioned in 2020 by the Brown family
and dedicated to Alma Lowe, a Prima Donna with the Carl Rosa Opera Company and her three
children.

The text of this new carol, written by the composer, connects the miracle of the incarnation with the preciousness of God’s gift of our earthly home – the ‘miracle we share’ is both the natural environment and also the birth of Jesus Christ. These poignant words are set to an entirely homophonic texture which allows the text to speak clearly. Todd’s recognisable lush harmonies permeates this short carol, which would make a pleasing and contemporary addition to festive season concerts and services, suitable for intermediate choirs.

This Miracle We Share by Will Todd (excerpt)

This short instrumental work for strings and harp was written one morning in Rhinebeck New York in 2024 and inspired by the beautiful sunrise that I saw at my friend's house. There is tranquillity in the dawning of a new day, but also challenge, and the arc of the piece moves from the sonorous D major opening through gradually more dissonant material before returning to the stillness and promise of the opening phrases.

Will Todd says: "This is a revised version of a track originally called Blessed Art Thou which was written for Nigel Short and Tenebrae in 2014 with words by Ben Dunwell. I have used the same shape to create a new secular text based on the elements and structure of the Magnificat, exhorting the listener to live life in harmony with nature and to fight for the future of our relationship with the planet."
