Ed:it | Hospitality Weekender Guest Mix

"Nuvem" is a beautiful composition by my brother JoPa Basile and the first track we made together.
When he played it for me for the first time, I immediately thought "this is it!".
Its dreamlike melody seems to float over the complex sequence of chords that, in the best tradition of Brazilian jazz, make it sound beautiful and natural, while at the same time proposing a challenge for the most attentive ears.
My vision for this production was to go beyond the obvious by mixing languages, using drum machines and carefully programmed synthesizers to create bolder sounds in terms of timbres, arrangement and mixing.
We were very lucky and honored to have the participation of the exceptional brothers and musicians Zéli Silva (fretless bass) and Walmir Gil (trumpet), in recording sessions during the pandemics, greatly strengthening our work helping to materialize our musical vision.
Amid the current and welcome resurgence of instrumental music, "Nuvem" deserves a prominent place.
