Through our travels across the world, we often meet personalities that absolutely blow us away with their talent. French DJ/Producer, Clarinetist & Saxophonist Wilson Costa is one such person. He makes his debut on Wind Horse Records with the ‘Dune’ EP, an exciting 5-track compendium of originals & remixes. 

Starting off, we begin with ‘Dunes’, a slow, deep, soulful & spiritual track that illustrates the imaginative compositions of Wilson Costa in the best of ways. An uplifting chorus of Indian vocals layered with a simple & groovy rhythm including organic drum hits greets you right from the off. Gorgeously intertwined with an epic background pad that’s sure to give your skin goosebumps. The flow of the track remains constant & is sure to move many hearts on the dancefloor. 

Playful, happy & lively with a hint of those retro-disco vibes we all love, ‘Q Narongate’ lines up next with an exquisitely produced house track. A juicy, acid-tinged bassline serves as the foundation for Wilson’s next aural masterpiece. Heavenly chords along with eclectic notes & stabs from the electric piano, set up the mood through the track. Deep, sensual vocal layers add more character to a tune that’s already bursting, full of it! 

Following up are the remixes by Polish duo Tidy Daps, the first of which is their ‘dub’ version. The rework begins earnestly with a tight & simple beat structure layered incrementally with subtle percussion. A sweeping pad fills up the higher frequencies & gives way to a deep, groovy sub-bass & bassline that compliments the stripped-down essence of this offering. Carefully sampled, organic vocals & instruments combine beautifully with the core of the track of a dubstastic addition to your music arsenal. 

The easter European twosome also contributed a remix for ‘Dunes’ with a more emotive take. Keeping their minimalistic approach, the track has a more sounded bassline with a melancholic pad setting up the atmosphere with delicate stabs of the xylophone-like melodies. Smartly re-used vocal samples add a layer of fantasy to this deliciously lush & intimate production that’s suitable for those intense warm-ups or a drive out in your car! 

Rounding things off is another remix of the title track, this time by Smear. The mysterious producer makes his mark with a slick, deep & deadly remix that’s going to shake up a few sound systems across the world. A catchy bassline joins a thick kick drum & a smorgasbord of percussive hits to create that aural magic, we all crave. The track leads its listeners into a lovely breakdown that gives way to a feet-shuffling drop. Don’t be surprised if you find this one being played out at a festival near you!

@montyluke's ‘Nightdubbing (Part 2)’ lands on Rekids this February.

Kicking oﬀ Rekids’ January, Monty Luke’s ‘Nightdubbing (Part 1)’ won the support of Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier, Fred P and many more. Radio Slave’s esteemed label now readies itself for part two, starting with ‘Supernova’, a slow-burning groover shot through with whirly synths and deep space textures, broken up by retro vocal samples. ‘Starstorms’ continues to explore the deepest reaches of the unknown, picking up pace via shaker rhythms, driving bass, and raw foot-on-the-pedal pads.

Up next is Monty Luke’s ‘New World / Old Future’, in which scratch-like drums, dubbed-out hits and a rolling rhythm are all in perfect order before the psychedelic ‘Avantgarde Dancehall’ introduces wonky liquid sonics and intricate melodies over a steady beat. Closing this eclectic oﬀering, ‘Travelling ‘Round The Sun’ features drums rooted in dub alongside spoken word poetry, rounding oﬀ a release that is storytelling at its very best.

Monty Luke spent ten formative years in Detroit, where the city's unique musical spirit inﬂuenced him immensely. He has since distilled this experience into the music he has put out on labels like Rekids, Planet-E, Hypercolour, and his own Black Catalogue. His raw, dub-infused sound comes with plenty of futuristic designs, with this second part of ‘Nightdubbing’ continuing to push the boundaries of his music.

We are super excited to present you another new artist that is joining the Dirt Crew family in this anniversary year where the label turns 20!. Since our start in 2004 we have always strived to release new talent and kickstart their career and with Los Latidos we have some real rough, original and deep, soulful tracks for you, topping all off with a first class remix from our last label signing J. Peacock from London.

Los Latidos aka Rafael Cohen was born in Mexico City and currently lives in New York where he plays and tours with the Warp Records dance punk band !!! (chk chk chk). His music career has gone from releasing records on the legendary DC punk label Dischord Records, to recording with jazz great Anthony Braxton. His work as Los Latidos focuses strictly on the dance floor and this - his third EP and debut for Dirt Crew Recordings - continues what Resident Advisor called “a feast of acid squelches, breakbeats and house kicks” over four new tracks of psychedelic, soulful, Detroit influenced house music.

For the first track on the ‘Contemporary Part One’ EP on Rekids, Oliver Dollar joins forces with studio wizard ADMN, a musician, TV Lounge resident, Infolines label owner, and affiliate of Carl Craig's Planet E, among many more top labels. Their brilliant 'Before You' featuring Apropos is a soul-drenched house cut with a classic vibe and an irresistible sense of soul thanks to its smooth vocals. The warm synths light up the loose-limbed groove and ensure a good time.

Oliver Dollar and versatile Scottish producer Austin Ato then serve up 'Portamento Track' for the ‘Contemporary Part One’ EP, an uplifting house gem with serene strings adding a touch of class to the impassioned vocal and disco-tinged groove. Last but not least, Detroit mainstay and Michigander label head Brian Kage remixes Oliver Dollar's 'Strings 4 Life', a track from Dollar’s previous EP on Rekids of the same name and which won the support of Paul Woolford, Honey Dijon, Nightmares On Wax and many more. Kage turns the track into a signature slice of Motor City house soul with swooning pads and hip-swinging drums that are aged to perfection.

Berlin-based house connoisseur Oliver Dollar is known for his variety. He explores the genre via deep, soulful, and jacking cuts, constantly innovating on his signature style with plenty of underground hits produced on the likes of Defected, Classic Music, and his own Industry Standard label.

PREMIERE: Yonatan Rukhman - What We Gonna Do [Music Department]

Boston staple Nick Minieri delivers two tracks that showcase Minieri’s love of swinging and sampling on the “L8 Nite Keys” EP. Originating as a snowy jam session with fellow Bostonian GMGN on hardware synths, the title track was chopped, re-sequenced and re-imagined by Minieri multiple times. The best attempt presented here, “L8 Nite Keys” explores the mature side of house with soulful vocal chops cut in UK Garage fashion. On the flip, Minieri combines dub-delayed synths, a swinging arpeggio, and a timeless Korg M1 bass patch to form “Pixel Perfect.” Crafted in the cold of winter, its carefree tropes pull you straight into spring, summer, and beyond.

For AnalyticTrail's third installment of the year we introduce Callum Plant's captivating four-track EP, "Farfalla." As World Beats Mature, it is truly and indelibly becoming an international phenomenon. Born out of warehouses in Chicago and New York, then cultivated in the clubs of London and Europe, house music culture has spread around the world with a determined influence. Thus the time has come for an important World Beats music scene to spring out of India, led by a striking young talent named Hamza and his exceptional Wind Horse Records label.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first house music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. He dominated the label's artist roster so far with impressive releases that seamlessly meld house music rhythms, traditional instrumentation from Indian and other world musics, and admirably high production standards.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first World Beats music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. Many of Wind Horse's releases feature Hamza collaborating with important talent such as Harmonic Choir founder David Hykes, well known Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi, and Yungchen Lhamo, a Tibetan singer who has recorded for Peter Gabriel's Real World imprint. In fact, collaboration and the merging of tradition with contemporary dance music can be seen as Wind Horse's mission, and yields exciting and unique results. 

Wind Horse's future includes increased interaction with musicians from 'the west,' as the label includes renowned remixers and artists from the electronic music world. Wind Horse's next step includes remixers such as Tom Middleton, Michael Mayer, Ricky Ryan, and Kosmas Epsilon tackling its exotic sound. The label also will continue to showcase the music of its region's up-and-coming producers, including new discoveries Kartech, from New Delhi.

The label's primary focus remains to expose the pool of talent from India and 'the east' to global dance music citizens. Wind Horse has been largely successful thus far, earning accolades from fans like Riva Starr, Dubfire, Peter Kruder, Roger Sanchez, John Digweed, Lauren Garnier, and Sander Klienenberg. Wind Horse's reach looks to continue to expand as Hamza and Vipul Angirish increasingly play gigs and festivals around the world. Wind Horse is also forming a live 'sound system' act which includes Hamza, Indian percussionist Latif Khan, Latin percussionist Manu Idhra, and a promising mix of dancers, visual artists, and globally based guest musicians. Wind Horse will also be exposing its sound to the world through the WHR Podcast Series, featuring two mixes each month from Wind Horse DJs and friends of the label.

The Wind Horse style and concept has worldwide reach, blasting its international vibe out of club systems and home stereos in nearby as well as far-flung cities. With its ambitious plans the label is sure to increase its profile, delighting house music heads, world music aficionados, and lovers of exotic electronic music with an abundance of top notch releases.
