Martin Eyerer & Benno Blome feat. Kollmorgen - So We Can Fly (Mihai Popoviciu Remix) [Bar 25]

Here at DT we like to get the weekend started as early as possible, so with that in mind we've got a real treat in store this morning. Italian producers Skyboy and Andrea di Rocco have teamed up with vocalist Frank to create a beautiful piece of laid back house for Berlin label Soulfooled, guaranteed to move both your heart and your feet; plus DT favourite Alex Niggeman has taken on remix duties.

With Skyboy's previous work for the likes of Clap Your Hands and di Rocco's releases through Niggeman's AEON imprint, the pair have built up quite a reputation for themselves individually; 'A Space Walk With Ennio' confirms the duo as a perfect production match. Through a funky off-kilter beat, haunting vocals and curious progression, the pair showcase their combined talents. 

As Soulfooled's curator, Niggeman takes the reigns next, adding weight with a sultry bass line and driving beat.

Manjumasi co-founder atish makes his long awaited bow on the production front with his very first solo EP in the form of two original cuts and remixes from Lee Jones and Dance Spirit. Peculiar Colors EP, the fifth release on the imprint, tows the party line in offering a refreshing electronic take across the board. Dance Spirit, known for releases on the likes of Sol Selectas, Get Weird, Kindisch and Rebellion, provide a soothing edition of the title track, which you can hear exclusively on When We Dip today.

Wind horse records is ecstatic to welcome once again, the music messiah that is Kali G. The Moroccan DJ and producer returns to our label with a dazzling 9-track LP called ‘Ethnology’ that explores an endless melodic cosmos. Far from the industrial music this is a 9-track story that depicts a journey into sound that spreads across continents. An album with influences from many cultures of the world, from Egypt, Lebanon to Tanzania and India seeking peace and no division through music.

For Kali, the last year has been a busy year with gigs and family events like the birth of his child to whom Ethnology is dedicated to. In his own words, he tells us that the labor that went into making this album was like putting all the highs and lows of life together through music. As a listener, one is instantly struck by an intensely intimate, surreal, organic and emotive sound palette that has been used for the making of this album. The instruments pool is very varied and rich ranging from old and organic instruments like the ‘oud’ to Indian flutes and tables. These sounds are melded together with alluring vocal arrangements that sample folkloric and classic voices from the Maasai tribes in Tanzania along with a tribute to some of the most known and respected voices in the arabic world like the legends Oum Kaltoum and Nouhad Haddad

Each track is peppered with minimalistic elements, percussions from vintage drum machines and uplifting chords and notes from an array of synths, pianos and violins. Heavy on the senses and deep with simple and hypnotic bass grooves with an ethnic and spiritual touch. Every tracks on this album are potency weapon in any DJs aural arsenal and could be dropped in a variety of scenarios. The laid-back but addictive vibe of each track also make sure to keep listeners coming back for more. 

This release is also personally significant for Kali G, as he uses the positivity of the world as his inspiration to create his music and to spread the message of love, peace and unity.

Once a year on the date of the summer solstice Sol Selectas release their annual Summer Sol compilation to celebrate the years longest day of sunshine. Blending eloquent melodies with earthy percussion, this release covers a diverse section of sub genres ranging from melodic house to low slung electronica.

Compiled over a twelve month period by label owner Sabo, the fourth edition in the series features 25 tracks including artists such as Amentia, Dandara, Canson, Mark Alow, Mass Digital, Gabriel Belmudes, Robbie Akbal, plus many others.

Sabo also features his own music on the release which is showcased in this eight track sampler including a cross section of tracks that fully express the magic of this stunning release.

As the sun travels round the world to warm our hearts, bodies and minds, the concept of this release series is also to embrace world culture, as under the sun’s rays we are all equal no matter our skin colour, sexuality or gender.

Fully embracing the diversity of cultures around the world, this release includes artists from over 18 countries with vocals spoken, chanted or sung in many different languages.

Previous Summer Sol releases have charted No.1 on Beatport and it’s expected that the fourth offering will fair no differently continuing the popularity of the series.

Sol Selectas is very much a community with each of the artists thought of as brothers and sisters of the label's close-knit family, and this is also represented in the label artwork designed by Sabo’s fiancé Helia Jamali.

Azari & III's undeniable pop hooks and pitch-perfect vintage house sensibilities have lent themselves to some of the best and most popular remixes in recent memory. Now, the trend continues as Turbo presents a vital new wave of top reworks of the group's endlessly fertile catalog.

REMIXERS

Turbo New Jacker Locked Groove takes "Manhooker" out of the vice squad lockup and turns it out under a strobing streetlight with a killer acid bassline. Yet another notch in the young Belgian's ever-tightening dance-belt.

The peerless Konrad Black cuts open "Indigo" and excises the Dark Heart of House, leaving it throbbing mechanically on the warehouse floor with over 10 minutes of cold techno precision. 

Fresh off co-writing and producing a track on Jamie Jones' last album, rising house star Luca C sends love from Ibiza with a mix of "Manic" that is somehow even more lifestyle-friendly than the original. 

Finally, the release is capped off with an alternate version of Maceo Plex's enduringly popular remix of "Manic", slowing down the BPM while pumping out a bumping tom groove. We couldn't in good conscience let you have another life-changing pool party without it.

As World Beats Mature, it is truly and indelibly becoming an international phenomenon. Born out of warehouses in Chicago and New York, then cultivated in the clubs of London and Europe, house music culture has spread around the world with a determined influence. Thus the time has come for an important World Beats music scene to spring out of India, led by a striking young talent named Hamza and his exceptional Wind Horse Records label.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first house music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. He dominated the label's artist roster so far with impressive releases that seamlessly meld house music rhythms, traditional instrumentation from Indian and other world musics, and admirably high production standards.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first World Beats music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. Many of Wind Horse's releases feature Hamza collaborating with important talent such as Harmonic Choir founder David Hykes, well known Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi, and Yungchen Lhamo, a Tibetan singer who has recorded for Peter Gabriel's Real World imprint. In fact, collaboration and the merging of tradition with contemporary dance music can be seen as Wind Horse's mission, and yields exciting and unique results. 

Wind Horse's future includes increased interaction with musicians from 'the west,' as the label includes renowned remixers and artists from the electronic music world. Wind Horse's next step includes remixers such as Tom Middleton, Michael Mayer, Ricky Ryan, and Kosmas Epsilon tackling its exotic sound. The label also will continue to showcase the music of its region's up-and-coming producers, including new discoveries Kartech, from New Delhi.

The label's primary focus remains to expose the pool of talent from India and 'the east' to global dance music citizens. Wind Horse has been largely successful thus far, earning accolades from fans like Riva Starr, Dubfire, Peter Kruder, Roger Sanchez, John Digweed, Lauren Garnier, and Sander Klienenberg. Wind Horse's reach looks to continue to expand as Hamza and Vipul Angirish increasingly play gigs and festivals around the world. Wind Horse is also forming a live 'sound system' act which includes Hamza, Indian percussionist Latif Khan, Latin percussionist Manu Idhra, and a promising mix of dancers, visual artists, and globally based guest musicians. Wind Horse will also be exposing its sound to the world through the WHR Podcast Series, featuring two mixes each month from Wind Horse DJs and friends of the label.

The Wind Horse style and concept has worldwide reach, blasting its international vibe out of club systems and home stereos in nearby as well as far-flung cities. With its ambitious plans the label is sure to increase its profile, delighting house music heads, world music aficionados, and lovers of exotic electronic music with an abundance of top notch releases. Keep and eye and an ear on Wind Horse Records and its tight knit family of artists ‚ exciting and surprising things are soon to come.
