We’re absolutely thrilled to have the multi-talented and versatile DJ/Producer Arnold From Mumbai AKA AFM join the Wind Horse Records family with a 3-track EP titled “Indian Mirage”. 
The Mumbai-based electronic musician who explored minimal soundscapes has evolved his sound palette to deliver a gorgeous package that will easily light up any dance floor. 

Kicking things off is the title track “Indian Mirage”, an expertly curated and selectively designed funker that has a bass guitar inspired bassline along with stabs derived from stringed instruments that give it a laid back & easy-going vibe. Delicately designed vocal samples add a layer of ethereal depth to the track that easily imbibes a sense of euphoria as the track builds on. Hamza returns to Wind Horse Records after last year’s “Thar” single, and he does so with an exceptional four song EP that continues to expand his evocative deep house sound. Months of touring Asia and Europe have honed Hamza’s productions into a tighter, more floor-focused territory while retaining the distinctive touches that make his tracks special and memorable. Titled the Dakini EP, this latest release also shows a spirit of experimentation, as Hamza explores different styles and vibes resulting in a diverse but powerful set of tracks. 

The EP opens with “Dakini Tales” and its lightly plucked rhythmic synth sequence. As often found in Hamza’s production, the more traditional deep house intro subtly transforms into lush and vibrant sonic layers that include distant vocals, dreamy percussion, and worldly ingredients. The beautiful melody is a guiding light through the track’s progression. “Dazzle On” gets a little tougher, with its punchy bass line, filtered piano-like motif, and steady four-on-the-floor movement. A dramatic breakdown leads to a lovely section that should work wonders in the nightclub. Taking things a bit darker and exotic, “Temple” gives an impression of the dance floor as a hallowed place, with ritualistic bells, percussion, and flutes accenting the insistent beat and sub-bass bounce. The EP closes with “Lantern”, a techier cut that introduces skippy rhythms, prominent dub echo splashes, and a hypnotically churning bass. This one’s ideally suited for after hours visions. Hamza delivers once again.

The latest release from Wind Horse Records dips once again into India’s fertile deep house movement, this time exposing Mumbai-based DJ / producer Troja to an awaiting global audience. The Shanti EP, consisting of three top notch house tracks, should handily further this goal.

“Shanti” leads the three originals on the EP, instantly mesmerizing with its ringing sitars and vocal chants led forward by a heartbeat-like rhythm. Tabla percussion flourishes and chiming synth melodies add to the deep house cut’s eastern appeal. This sound is expanded with “Ghats”, which adds mystical flute lines and churning layers of percussion to the dance floor equation.The track builds to an exotic bounce as plucked strings and a rising synth drone work to charm the listener. “Mantra” features a deeper, punchier rhythm and intriguing vocals of a magical persuasion. The hypnotic combination of the languid bass line and sparse beats make this one an after-hours treat for intimate venues.

Three fantastic remixes compliment Troja’s addictive originals. Berlin duo Gudio Schneider and Daniel Dreier (Highgrade, Moon Harbour) present their ‘Aztecs Explore India’ remix of “Shanti” which blends the original’s textures into a 14 minute masterwork. The voices and instruments fade in and out of the mix while the remixers’ solid house rhythm and melodic arpeggiation lines confidently anchor the production.

Wind Horse Records’ own Kali G also tackles “Shanti”, going for a dubbier treatment that plays with splashes of percussion and echoed instrumentation to create a satisfying aural journey. Another duo, Bahrain’s Zone+ & Usif, are on hand for a version of “Ghats” that may be the deepest effort on the EP. Calming key pads and hand-drum heavy beats combine with smooth sub-bass and swelling snatches of the original cut. It’s a lovely remix, showing the depth of deep house through its continuing global exchange of sound and ideas.

Wind Horse Records bursts forth once again with another edition of the Indian deep house label’s yearly sampler series. These samplers have served as an exciting platform for showcasing Wind Horse’s more experimental side and to introduce some new producers that will be working with the label. Wind Horse Sampler 6 features eleven deep and exotic house music tracks from up-and-coming artists hailing from South Asia and around the world.

Most of the sampler’s producers are based across India, as Wind Horse works to discover and expose electronic music from within its home country. But, as the label has an eye on the global house movement, artists from Jamaica (David Marston), Russia (Igor Gonya), South Africa (Master Kenton) and Morocco (Kali G) are also included. Wind Horse aims to cover all points of the globe, to show that forward-thinking electronic music can spring from any city or country, whether from somewhere in India or any other as-yet-revealed locale.

Stalvart John opens the compilation on a thoughtful note with “A Dream I Can’t Remember”, setting the mood for this diverse sampler with an ethereal yet somewhat jazzy soundscape. Then on “Ragamuffin” David Marston blends his deep house proclivity with an Indian influence, introducing a siren-like ‘eastern’ female vocal to the swinging four-on-the-floor beats. Igor Gonya (Lisztomania Records) delivers an old school Chicago-sounding house cut named “Morning Cake And Tea”, featuring enough skippy rhythms and staccato chords to get the nightclub jumping. “Cyclic” is a contribution by Mumbai’s Farhan Rehman, and it’s a rolling house number with floaty keys, vocal hits, and creaking percussion. Master Kenton keeps things firmly in his pocket with the mesmerizing “Brain Waves”, a track that touches the sonic pleasure center using its sublime textures. Next up is Hans Séance with the deep and especially dreamy “Paragon of Virtue”. Warm pads, arpeggiations, and bell-like tones flow steadily above a subdued four-on-the-floor beat.

Folic State moves things into the techno realm with “Mashita” and its echoey synth lines, mysterious spoken samples, and sci-fi atmosphere. The growling tech-house of Bangalore’s Synister whose “Eastern Dream” brings a dark mood utilizing busy percussion, transformed vocal hits, and a prominent low end. Tatsama’s “Empathy” follows, with a taste of the deep, exquisitely layered, and punchy house music that Wind Horse is known for. The ‘dream’ theme is revisited by Tasnneem, who states “It Was All Just A Dream” in her bass-heavy but gentle house music exploration. Finally, Wind Horse Records’ own Kali G tackles Troja’s recent track “Shanti”, going for a dubby treatment that plays with splashes of percussion and echoed instrumentation to create a satisfying aural journey.

Wind Horse Sampler 6 continues the high production quality, ambitious musicality, and deep beats that is the label’s hallmark. The collection sets up the fantastic releases yet to come in the next year, and proves Wind Horse Records is one of the big labels to watch.

The Moroccan DJ and producer returns to our label with a dazzling 9-track LP called ‘Ethnology’ that explores an endless melodic cosmos. Far from the industrial music this is a 9-track story that depicts a journey into sound that spreads across continents. An album with influences from many cultures of the world, from Egypt, Lebanon to Tanzania and India seeking peace and no division through music.

For Kali, the last year has been a busy year with gigs and family events like the birth of his child to whom Ethnology is dedicated to. In his own words, he tells us that the labor that went into making this album was like putting all the highs and lows of life together through music. As a listener, one is instantly struck by an intensely intimate, surreal, organic and emotive sound palette that has been used for the making of this album. The instruments pool is very varied and rich ranging from old and organic instruments like the ‘oud’ to Indian flutes and tables. These sounds are melded together with alluring vocal arrangements that sample folkloric and classic voices from the Maasai tribes in Tanzania along with a tribute to some of the most known and respected voices in the arabic world like the legends Oum Kaltoum and Nouhad Haddad

Each track is peppered with minimalistic elements, percussions from vintage drum machines and uplifting chords and notes from an array of synths, pianos and violins. Heavy on the senses and deep with simple and hypnotic bass grooves with an ethnic and spiritual touch. Wind Horse Records is ecstatic to present our next major release for the year 2018 which comes from veteran DJ & Producer Adel Ghandour aka BiGz (Canada) formerly known as BiG AL in collaboration with DJ/Producer Malkov aka Spring Reason (Russia) and Amir Jashari aka Below Bangkok (Croatia).
The exciting triad joins forces and frequencies to land the 'Eastern Lights' single with remixes from the label's founder Hamza, Morocco's Kali G and Sri Lanka's Asvajit.
The EP is a representative vision of the global influence and fabric that bind the tapestry of music that's released on Wind Horse records. 'Eastern lights' is a gorgeously crafted ethereal deep dub-tech groover that could inspire visions of hypnotic space and the introspection of time. Unhurried and unabashedly laid-back, the track is characterized by a lush, enveloping pad that entrances the listener straight away. The track is complimented by simple yet effective drums & percussions that mirror the groups minimal affinities. The track can be described as an aural trip through the cosmos of space, interpreted by ably by the trio. A subtle and round bassline accompanies the ensemble and makes this a perfect weapon for the early hours and the after-hours.
On remix duties, Hamza renders his own interpretation of 'Eastern Lights' with an alluring, ethnic remix that leans toward the more mystical side of his music making capabilities. The track is more dance-floor friendly but retains its hypnotic influence and Eastern Soul. Hamza's unique individuality and sense for harmonies are easily audible and recognizable. The 3-track EP from the American tastemaker reveals the influences and roots of a producer who stays true to the music that touches his soul. The title track ‘witness’  is the signature release from the EP and has also been reimagined into two distinct flavors with a Jazz remake as well as an “Afro Rebel” remix that portrays the versatility and musicality that Oscar P possesses.

The title track “Witness” kicks off with a simple 4X4 groove that’s complemented by sharp, rasping percussions. Oscar’s sampling prowess shines through with an uplifting and joyous vocal acapella that powers through the track with aplomb. The producer’s American influences are more than apparent with several piano riffs, trumpet stabs and subtle pad underlays and overtones that tie the track down together into one neat and power dance-floor package. Constructed with purpose, ‘Witness’ will certainly find it’s way into the record cases of more than just a few DJs.

The second track on the release is an absolutely gorgeous remake and is aptly titled the “Cromagnum Jazz remix” because of the absolute instrumental grandeur that the track possesses. Equipped with a deeper/dubby baseline, the CJ remix reveals yet another facet of Oscar’s aural aptitude. A hazy, dreamy vibe overcomes the listener as he travels through a beautiful sequence of tactfully laid out piano chords, trumpet solos and warm electronic keys that ooze class with every bar. Perfect for warming up the dance floor or for being dropped at those secret after-parties.

The final track on the EP is another reinterpretation of the title track that explores a style of music that screams “Dancefloor”. The deep, dubby bassline is retained along with instrumental elements and overlayed with smatterings of vocals that keep the listener hooked on edge. An amalgamation of the previous two tracks, “Afro-rebel” mix ensures that there’s something for everyone's sensibilities throughout the EP, making for another solid release from the WindHorse family.

As World Beats Mature, it is truly and indelibly becoming an international phenomenon. Born out of warehouses in Chicago and New York, then cultivated in the clubs of London and Europe, house music culture has spread around the world with a determined influence. Thus the time has come for an important World Beats music scene to spring out of India, led by a striking young talent named Hamza and his exceptional Wind Horse Records label.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first house music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. He dominated the label's artist roster so far with impressive releases that seamlessly meld house music rhythms, traditional instrumentation from Indian and other world musics, and admirably high production standards.

Wind Horse Records was formed in New Delhi in August 2009, earning the distinction of India's first World Beats music label. Wind Horse was devised by prominent Indian DJ and producer Hamza. Many of Wind Horse's releases feature Hamza collaborating with important talent such as Harmonic Choir founder David Hykes, well known Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi, and Yungchen Lhamo, a Tibetan singer who has recorded for Peter Gabriel's Real World imprint. In fact, collaboration and the merging of tradition with contemporary dance music can be seen as Wind Horse's mission, and yields exciting and unique results. 

Wind Horse's future includes increased interaction with musicians from 'the west,' as the label includes renowned remixers and artists from the electronic music world. Wind Horse's next step includes remixers such as Tom Middleton, Michael Mayer, Ricky Ryan, and Kosmas Epsilon tackling its exotic sound. The label also will continue to showcase the music of its region's up-and-coming producers, including new discoveries Kartech, from New Delhi.

The label's primary focus remains to expose the pool of talent from India and 'the east' to global dance music citizens. Wind Horse has been largely successful thus far, earning accolades from fans like Riva Starr, Dubfire, Peter Kruder, Roger Sanchez, John Digweed, Lauren Garnier, and Sander Klienenberg. Wind Horse's reach looks to continue to expand as Hamza and Vipul Angirish increasingly play gigs and festivals around the world. Wind Horse is also forming a live 'sound system' act which includes Hamza, Indian percussionist Latif Khan, Latin percussionist Manu Idhra, and a promising mix of dancers, visual artists, and globally based guest musicians. Wind Horse will also be exposing its sound to the world through the WHR Podcast Series, featuring two mixes each month from Wind Horse DJs and friends of the label.

The Wind Horse style and concept has worldwide reach, blasting its international vibe out of club systems and home stereos in nearby as well as far-flung cities. With its ambitious plans the label is sure to increase its profile, delighting house music heads, world music aficionados, and lovers of exotic electronic music with an abundance of top notch releases.
