How Being A Small Fish In A Big Pond Helped Me See Sharks

A performance of the Stranglers track "Down In The Sewer" at Islington Academy in 2005 for the Hugh Cornwell "People Place Pieces"* live album.  This version takes the original version into some new territory and was a blast to co-create.

Down In The Sewer

This is a live interpretation of the Jimi Hendrix song "Machine Gun" that I did with some dear friends when we recreated the Jimi Hendrix album "Band of Gypsys" live with a six-piece gospel choir in Bradford on Avon, UK, in 2013.

This structure of this version was arranged by guitarist/vocalist Chris Goulstone to include Eastern textures and some contemporary musical sensations a la Rammstein.

Machine Gun (Jimi Hendrix cover)

This compilation includes me drumming on some Genesis songs with Genesis tribute act Genesis Visible Touch. I called this the longs reel as it features selections from some of Genesis' longer songs, and it's also around ten minutes in length. I hope you enjoy this! :)

Genesis Longs Reel

This is a track I drummed on during the Dr. John Cooper Clarke​ and Hugh Cornwell​ "This Time It's Personal" tour in 2016. After performing the TTIP album in its entirety each night, we played a selection of encores including this song. 

This performance of "I Wanna Be Yours" from the final night of the tour is a la the original version of the song which the Arctic Monkeys​ covered that subsequently brought them and John to the top of the album charts in 2014.

Dr. John Cooper Clarke - I Wanna Be Yours (live in Glasgow, 2016)

Here's a recording of the John Coltrane piece 'Giant Steps.' This version was recorded in 2001, live and in one take with Paul Bielatowicz (Carl Palmer Band, Neal Morse Band) on guitar, Paul Galbraith on bass, and myself on drums. It features a large amount of notes in a small amount of time and I hope you enjoy it!

P.S. If you're wondering about what's happening at the end of track, it's the sound of Paul (the guitarist) after inhaling some helium. :-)

Giant Steps

This is a demo of the first part of one of a few songs I recorded with some friends earlier this year (2012). I'm quite surprised at how this performance turned out considering it was the first time we'd ever played together apart from a brief rehearsal/soundcheck. I normally prefer a different bass drum sound to what's on this recording but for this demo I chose to not cut a hole in the bass drum head of the rehearsal studio's drum kit. Overall, I had a lot of fun playing on this and I hope that shines though to you! :)

This Device - part 1 (live demo)

This is some music I created in 2005 with Hugh Cornwell which is from his triple live album 'People Places Pieces.'* The two tracks featured here, 'Mothra' and 'Irate Caterpillar' were originally released on Hugh's first solo album, 'Nosferatu,' recorded in 1979 with Captain Beefheart drummer Robert Williams.

This version of 'Mothra' is my adaptation of Robert Williams' original part, and 'Irate Caterpillar' features me simultaneously drumming and singing/speaking - a fun challenge!
