It’s been three months since I released my first mix, started performing live and began my journey down the long, painful path of “Do they like me?” and “Has my nipple fallen out on stage or are they smiling because of the music?”

If you asked me why I started deejaying, I could rattle off a few superficial reasons:
    1. I was tired of paying covers
    2. I wanted to start a girl group with all of my closest friends and, being the bossy child I was, I was desperate to find a way to lead.
    3. The Writer’s Strike of May 2023 (still going strong, baby)
    4. I’m a party girl and ALSO a girl boss

But ultimately, the real reason was that I love the music I find and I constantly wanted to play it in intimate spaces with my friends.  My love of performing stems from about $3000 in scam acting classes that my poor parents bought in 2006, 7 subsequent years of legitimate theatre training, and 4 undergraduate Art University years that I will never stop paying for. I haven’t taken a headshot in 12 years and I hadn’t been on a stage in half as long. So the first time I stepped foot on a stage behind the boards, I was incredibly sweaty. Just wet. A tequila pineapple was shoved in my hand to address my panicked look but I didn’t touch it until I was 35 minutes in, and everyone else was getting drunk enough to dance. But there was no shortage of people running up and kissing my cheek and shoving tequila pineapples in my hand. That was January, and I haven’t had a tequila pineapple in the last 8 months - after one sip I start getting panicky and sweaty so thank you to everyone who loved me enough to ruin them for me. I have, in the last 8 months, stepped on a few more stages and been a lot less sweaty. 
Most recently, I played a poolside I've frequented since I first came to LA in 2020, wide-eyed and closed-mouth to all the craziness around me. Since then, I speak up, I put myself out there but I’m more blind to the bullshit than ever. Since then, I've discovered that the real reason I DJ is to create beautiful bullshit-free grooves and spaces, and to make as many people smile with as many visible teeth as possible. And I’m a girl boss.
