Matt Gwilt’s debut album A Front for Something is OUT NOW!! 

Alt electronic artist Matt Gwilt is a new name but no stranger to the music business. As a founder member of legendary Leeds band The Sunshine Underground (TSU) he toured incessantly and helped build the reputation of one of the great British alternative / electronic bands. When the band split amicably in December 2016 after ten years and four albums, Matt took some time out and hung up his drumsticks for a while to reflect. 

The urge to write and perform was not lost though, momentum picked up during the lockdown and Matt began to buy equipment again and write from his base in Manchester. This time though he was writing on his own, retaining the electronic sensibilities of later TSU work but with a maturity and emotional sensibility that is very much his own. Also, most significantly and for the very first time, he is singing lead vocals.
