Another composition recorded before the war. I hope one day I will return to my home studio. Any support from you is much appreciated on these extremely hard times for our country, our family. 
I could have recorded much new music for the last 9 months... unless russians came to our yard to "save" us with their tanks, missiles, bombs and war planes at 4 a.m. on Feb 24th. And yes, they saved us from our house, from our normal life, from our dreams and plans. They saved my elderly parents from their home and peaceful life in retiring, saved my daughter from happy childhood, from school, from her friends and vacation by the sea. We'll never forget and never forgive it! I'm sure that russia will get what it deserves - each rocket they launch on Ukraine will turn to another 10 years of disaster for their cowardly people.

He sent us an awesome beat to serve as the rhythmic backbone to this new song. Then Stephen totally funkified it with guitar, Uziel gave a stellar performance on vocals with some original lyrics, and Jeff and I contributed just the right amount of weirdness. "The iconic "Man in the Maze" (I'itoi) symbol is an ancient design originally found on Tohono O’odham baskets. This prehistoric pattern, symbolizing one’s journey through life, also is the seal of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The legend of the “Man in the Maze” helps children understand the meaning of life.

According to the legend, the man at the top of the maze depicts birth. By following the white pattern as it winds toward the center, the figure goes through the maze encountering many turns and changes, symbolic of life’s choices. As the journey continues, one acquires knowledge, strength and understanding. The labyrinth illustrates the search for balance in the physical, social, mental and spiritual realms while working toward our dreams and goals.

Nearing the end of the maze, one retreats to a small corner of the pattern where he reflects back on all the wisdom he has gained, and cleanses himself before reaching the dark center of the maze. This song began as an acoustic guitar and vocals stem written and performed by Steve. He sent it to Josh, who added the undulating staccato bass line, with the help of Ken's always well-suited drums. They went back and forth a couple of times, as is their process, until it clicked. Tez added some really dynamic leads and fills throughout, and Stephen filled in the rest of the electric guitar in a Keith/Ronnie kind of way, which is very tasteful. JJ then added some perfectly complimentary organ. Finally, Ken pleasantly surprised us with the low vocal harmonies. 
Stephen also mixed and produced this one for us. He's brilliant behind the board, and we're lucky to have him aboard. This one came together in a matter of a relatively short period of a fortnight, which is rare for the Eclectic Collective. But, when something is hot and already put together, it comes quickly. We all hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

When I was young I played beneath a big old Lilac tree that was in my grandmothers garden and I felt safe when I was hidden in under the branches surrounded by the beautiful purple flowers and the pungent aroma of the Lilac perfume this was a safe and a happy place for me. This feeling has inspired me to write the Lilac tree and dedicate it to my Grandmother Lilly (Elizabeth) Her husband died very young and left her with 5 young children to bring up  by herself, she was an awesome woman and this song is for her. 

I would like to thank my friend Finn Eces for bringing this song to life with such feeling and beauty. Finn is an awesome producer and a truly amazing vocalist and Musician and a great songwriter. Thank you Finn for this truly beautiful Lilac Tree.

contacted me about 2 years ago and offered me a baseline stem from an Alpha Roots collaboration he was working on with Joerxworx. About 2 years ago, that is crazy! I, of course, said I would take the stem. I needed to finish some other songs that were in the works before getting to play with Alpha Roots’s baseline. By the time I was ready to connect with the vibe, Russia had invaded Ukraine, unfathomable tragedy had begun, and the world was changing again. My song writing reflected the horror of what was going on. By the time all the stems were gathered, vocals were recorded, and the song was mixed and mastered, another war had broken out and the horror continued. 

Massive thanks to Mountain Songs for  trusting me with these blessed Alpha Roots stems. So glad Jamie, Jonathan, Joerxworx, and Russ got a chance to work with Alpha Roots again. Alpha Roots lives on.

Recalling some tequila, love words and more with them in that Ibiza bar, I wondered: “What if Pink Floyd met the spirit of Camarón de la Isla… in my bedroom?” I used lots of guitars, basses, etc. on a 12/8 beat, to enclose 3/4, 6/4 & 8/8 rhythms along.
