While it's not really an edit but the usual "original tune w/ sampled material" the intention was the same - an exercise of sampling and trying new production things.

A couple points of focus in this one were the drums and the bass. I've been working out this more rollery "sofa" sound kinda idea lately that started back with "Jazz Hands" (coming out soon btw). To me, a big part of the label's sound is the funk, a deep and driving bass, textured drums (organic/electronic), playing with harmonic layers, and a nod to early hip-hop, to name a few. That's right up my alley 🫡

My take on this is what we get here—a straight-to-the-point roller " winslow style." It's pushing my sound further to find its edge or if there is even one. I've made tunes like this but rarely with this kind of immediate energy. I like it. I have a couple of originals like this that'll find their way to projects later in the year, and in the meantime, you'll hear them in streams and in the radio show soon enough.

Inspired by sampling the 1979 track "Wandering Days" by Yuji Ohno

I really dove into getting the most out of this sample, using Ableton's stock sampler to sample multiple regions of the track for various bass and melodic lines. Most of the main bass riff came from adding a ping-pong loop to the tail of one sampled region.
