firstly i took the image associated with this project and edited it via the Image Glitch Tool on github (https://snorpey.github.io/jpg-glitch/)

I took this image and then found an online png to wav converter (as found here: https://nsspot.herokuapp.com/imagetoaudio/) which created a 20 second sound snippet.

I took this in ableton and repitched the parts and jammed it out on my pc keyboard.

Disquiet Junto Project 0557: Condensation Is a Form of Change
The Assignment: Interpret a graphic score that depicts four phases.

I didn't want to understand the picture as a kind of timeline to be read from left to right. From the beginning I felt the urge for simultaneity, as it is inherent in images. I saw four or five elements, of which the lower/left one is incomprehensible, condensing on a background and perhaps disappearing again like stains from a coffee cup.

With that in mind, I started playing around in Live, mostly with samplers like DecentSampler, Soundpaint, and Spitfire Labs, and a lot of destructive FX. I wanted to achieve the mysteriousness that I felt myself when I looked at the image. The only discernible motif kind of emerged as I played around, it was actually too clear to me, but then I didn't want to go without it.

Condensation

The Euclidean Chromaticon | Condensation - disquiet0557

This track was inspired by the Disquiet Junto Project 557: A photograph with four prints left by a glass on a table was read as graphical score.
The scores for the 4 phases/sections of the track were interpreted as polar coordinates. The origin of the coordinate system is always at the centre of the circular print. The angle is defined as time, 10° being equal to 1 s, and the radius as pitch (or frequency).
Sections of the frequency-range were assigned to different instruments.

Change might occur in Phases (Disquiet0557)

This is definitely my shortest entry for the Disquiet Junto. Asking my daughter what she’d expect of an audio logo for Wikimedia, she came up with turning pages from a book, which I found a great fit. I found a good sample from David Bain on Freesound (https://freesound.org/people/davidbain/sounds/136778/). 

When it came to the tonal parts, wanted to keep it positive, so I played a simple D-major chord, added some delays and that was that.

The Assignment: Help the Wikimedia Foundation develop a sonic logo.

The project this week is to participate, if it appeals to you, in the development of a “sound logo” for Wikimedia. Per the instructions: “The Wikimedia movement is searching for a sound logo that will identify content from all of our projects, like Wikipedia, when visual logos are not an option — for example, when virtual voice assistants answer queries.”

Note that the official Wikimedia contest deadline is October 10, 2022. For this Junto project, however, it is September 26.
