Disquiet Junto Project 0572: Rhythm Kit
The Assignment: Make a beat that someone else will add to.

On ebay I shot an old, rancid, scuffed Casio PT-1 as a restoration object for the holidays. It came yesterday and at the same time the disquiet junto mail came in. And it worked. Ah, I liked these rhumba rhythms like I did 40 years ago. Originally I just wanted to contribute that. But then I recorded a 4 bar loop and used 4 tracks on reaper to play around with some fx. I exported it and gave it some structure in Reaper.  It's now only the original loop plus fx. I think there is plenty of room for a second voice. 

The pure PT-1 is hearable in the beginning. I also put the original loop to https://freesound.org/people/krakenkraft/sounds/665090/ 

It's plain vanilla 120bpms.

Disquiet Junto Project 0573: Float Mode
The Assignment: Add material atop a pre-existing beat to form a complete track.

I liked https://soundcloud.com/tendigits/disquiet0572-rythm-kit by Tendigits and because it seemed to be made completely "by machine" I wanted to add only things without machines/automation. 
So I improvised around five additional tracks of sounds (and tried to leave room for some variation on the original drum track by Tendigits while doing it). In this week I also had field recorded the sound of icicles that I had knocked off the corrugated roof above the bicycle stand in the inner courtyard of my flat (my wife recorded, I knocked of the icicles – they can be seen on the track cover) and somehow felt they would fit as a mysterious element (hence the title) and because there was something like ice rain I heard in the original track (maybe its just me…). Finally I felt something was missing and added a live sung/spoken session of some kind of acoustic nagging to the track, which I edited with a lot of fx and manually painted parameter curves. 
It now feels like a hit.

Balance (Ignorance evolves)

drew the map

waves of dust in eternal wind
rounding corners
searching for a door in time
to take a soothing break
I had my hand on the doorknob
pushed it down
and held my breath
cause hesitation is a song
affraid to leave the rythm
to abandon the melody
to disrubt whatever harmony
had me woven into herself
tried to make my point
to be a comma
and noticed all points already are
time waits for noone
time waits for nothing
it wouldn't know how to

Still finding short experiments from the Tascam 4-track cassette archives. I think this one is from the late 80s. Never further developed segment of a song. Hope our FB friends are doing well.
