Disquiet Junto Project 0594: Threemix The Assignment: Remix an asynchronously produced trio.

I didn’t have a lot of time the past two weeks, so while I started a couple of things, I didn’t finish anything.
Going through these half developed sketches, to see if anything might be a good starting idea for this week’s remix challenge, I was drawn in by a loop I made using @Melondruie and @Fake-Genius piece Quietude Disturbed from week 2 (https://soundcloud.com/melondruie/quietude-disturbed-disquiet0592).
I thought the piece had a bit of a Burial feel to it, so as a sound design challenge, I tried to make a Burial kind of beat to go with it, using sounds I made tapping and scraping an old Zither I bought second hand (and that I mostly tend to use as a place to put my headphones, apparently).

Going through the playlist for week 3, I noticed that pieces based on @encym ’s week 2 contribution Tête à tête (https://soundcloud.com/encym/tete-a-tete-disquiet0592 built on the week 1 piece of @andreas-kitzmann) fit harmonically with Quietude Disturbed. Also, these pieces, and especially @RabMusicLab’s La tête éblouissante (https://soundcloud.com/rabmusiclab/la-tete-eblouissante) fit rather well stylistically. So, I wondered if I could mash these pieces up together in some way. At first, I intended not to use the Burial-esque beat, because… well… because it’s such a blatant ripoff. But by that time, I’d been hearing the loop for a while, and the sound had nested in my head: other rhythmic ideas didn’t cut it. Neither did doing away with a rhythmic element altogether.

So, there you have it.

Disquiet Junto Project 0609: Speed Limit Pt 1
The Assignment: Record a track at precisely 60 BPM with the intention someone will subsequently rework it.

I'm traveling right now so all I had was my iPad. It's 60bpm, Cminor and 4/4. I sequenced something with MiRack Modular in 60bpm but I found it too boring. I put it into my favourite granular Samplr and resequenced it with 60bpm and some odd delay. I added some of my own voice to get us into the pop charts. There is even some live pool water noise field recording, but maybe to silent. 

The cover cat is owned by the owners of the house I live at the moment, and it's sleeping the whole day. Have fun, whoever adds to this track.

Disquiet Junto Project 0615: Introspective Failure
The Assignment: Fall short again, this time on purpose.

Thanks to Junto member XHG (aka Alex) for having proposed this week’s project.

The goal of this project is to purposefully produce an unsatisfactory piece of music in a systematic way, in the hope of potentially learning from the experience. Your approach should be introspective and technical but also lighthearted and humorous.

Step 1: Think about a piece of music you have produced that you were not satisfied with.

Step 2: Try to analyze why this was the case. Is it possible to identify a main reason — like the concept, the process, the instrumentation, or simply the outcome?

Step 3: Take a break and let these thoughts simmer for a while.

Step 4: Try to produce a different unsatisfactory piece of music than you analyzed in Step 2, purposefully replicating the failure. (It might be sensible to keep it short so as to torment yourself not too much.)

Note: Before you start the process, plan something fun and gratifying to do after you finish your piece of music, in case the process lowers your mood.

Eight Important Steps When Your Track Is Done:

Step 1: Include “disquiet0615” (no spaces or quotation marks) in the name of your tracks.

Step 2: If your audio-hosting platform allows for tags, be sure to also include the project tag “disquiet0615” (no spaces or quotation marks). If you’re posting on SoundCloud in particular, this is essential to subsequent location of tracks for the creation of a project playlist.

Step 3: Upload your tracks. It is helpful but not essential that you use SoundCloud to host your tracks.
