That Which Is Luminous, Pierces the Darkness (Part I)

David and Uriah are two piano demos I recorded in early 2025. They weren’t originally intended for release—they came out of warm‑ups at the piano, with lyrics that were completely ad‑libbed. Somehow, in that spontaneity, I found myself referencing David and Uriah from the Book of Samuel in the Old Testament. It wasn’t planned; it just surfaced in the moment.

These two pieces, along with other demos from that period, are rough and unpolished. However there’s a kind of beauty in recordings that capture the first parts of an idea—the imperfections, the immediacy, the honesty of it all.

This piano waltz is a little heavy-handed.  
Then again, #NocturnalAnimals is a heavy, brutal film. 

Tom Ford + Abel Korzeniowski make such an excellent team. 
Makes me eager for the next Burton + Elfman project :)

It is the coming together of two ideas I had been playing with for a file, both inspired by the movement of snow and how it seems to float as well as fall. Recorded one night with 1 mic on my miniature Wagner upright piano using the felt pedal. (sorry for the poor recording)
