Prologue

In These times of war with fears of devices
whose destructive powers remain unseen.
We forget of the weapons within the mind, that have destroyed
more men than machines will ever see.
These weapons have kindled every war since
time began, and do not ally themselves with
the good or evil of men, but instead choose
anarchy + chaos to be their friends.

The weapons are the horsemen of the Apocalypse
and are four, who ride upon steeds called men,
and are named: Pride, Prejudice, Jealousy, and Greed.

Pride

Seemingly the most innocent of the four,
yet he has kindled many a war.
Built on good intentions yet steeped in fear,
that what he has made may not be enough.
He revels in his creations pulling them over him
like a rich cloak as he sits on a throne of skulls.

Skulls of the ones he destroyed to make his kingdom,
as his jealousy excelled his dreams into oblivion.
He rules with what he feels is a gentle hand,
as he slowly crushes that which he does not understand.
His shiny crown bejeweled in souls
blinds his eyes to what he has done.
As a faint whisper in his ear tells him.
All is gold and grand....


Prejudice

Perhaps the greatest killer of men.
Brought about by an even blend,
of differences and fear of the enemy within.
It brings out the worst men of man,
who points a finger of accusation
at what they do not understand.
They make what they fear a scapegoat
in the name of God and the society of men
while washing their hands in the waters
of truth + sin.
They burn what they do not see in the mists of Flaming icons.
Frightened children huddled around a blazing fire,
all try to pretend they are braver than any.
Whilst spinning tales of bravery + envy,
mocking the fear that is so close to their heart,
yet denying all they are,
or have ever been.


Jealousy

Ally of prejudice, rival of fear.
She is truly the queen of the apocalypse so near.
She is able to bring out the hate between friends so dear,
who have known one another many a year.
And can paint truth with a brush of envy and desire
of things so immaterial + insincere.

She mocks what she desires in order to hide
the blade forged in the fires of her heart.
Fires which she will spill upon the land seeking the
pain + strife of the things she cannot hold in her hand.
In a vortex of madness no words can describe
sanity holds its last lot, in hopes that the Queen
with eyes of rage will subscribe to peace
in the name of the society of man.


Greed

Greed is that grim apocalypse that men
never seen to be able to exceed.
They take it to obsession at the cost of undue oppression
toward those who must be stepped on in order to achieve
what they feel they have right to.
A flaw they never seen to excel,
one which they would follow straight into
the gates of Hell, and back.
Bred by desire nourished by need,
it grows to maturity only to slay the heart and ransom the soul.

Truly a seed of sorrow, a thorn in the side of man.
its spawn destroys all hope for a better tomorrow.
As long as fate sows this seed in the soil of man,
peace can never rise above Hope,
while its grim shadow falls across the land.


Epilogue

In these days anew, we seek revelation.
we await total destruction from
our God in heaven.
Destruction from above is not the answer,
for we achieve it well enough without divine intervention.

From:

The Everlasting Apocalypse - An Eternal Human Cycle

The Everlasting Apocalypse: Prologue

The first of the 4 "horsemen" of my original cycle of poems--this one is: Pride. When I first wrote these lyrics oh so long ago, as part of a cycle of poems I did not realize how much I had made "Pride" like the first Horseman in Revelations both mine and that one are wearers of crowns and neither have obvious intentions to their true natures--The Revelations version is sorta of a "false" good maybe even a false profit. From the Wiki: "In John's revelation, the first horseman rides on a white horse, carries a bow, and is given a crown - he rides forward as a figure of Conquest,"I assure you these similarities are somewhat coincidence--however.there are strong connections between the ideas of Conquest and Pride/Hubris the later of which is one of the 7 Deadly Sins,. another idea I was not aware of when I first wrote this , As when I originally wrote this at roughly  18 years old, I was not familiar we the details with the Four horsemen or even Revelations

The focus this music offering is, Rhythm and Improv inspired  Drums--the *STAR* here is IKMULTIMEDIA.COM 's "Modo Drums"  the co-star is  IKMM's Amplitube5  and the mvp is the vox,  a combination of tts technology and my vast  knowlegde of vocal rendering and vocal virtualazation-- I call him, "Simon" :)

Metal meets Cellos:

Werner Voss (German: Werner Voß; 13 April 1897 – 23 September 1917) was a World War I German flying ace credited with 48 aerial victories. A dyer's son from Krefeld, he was a patriotic young man while still in school. He began his military career in November 1914 as a 17‑year‑old Hussar. After turning to aviation, he proved to be a natural pilot. After flight school and six months in a bomber unit, he joined a newly formed fighter squadron, Jagdstaffel 2 on 21 November 1916. There he befriended Manfred von Richthofen.

By 6 April 1917, Voss had scored 24 victories and awarded Germany's highest award, the Pour le Mérite. A month's leave removed Voss from the battlefield during Bloody April; in his absence, Richthofen scored 13 victories. Nevertheless, Richthofen regarded Voss as his only possible rival as top scoring ace of the war.

Soon after Voss returned from leave, he was at odds with his squadron commander. He was detailed from his squadron to evaluate new fighter aircraft and became enthusiastic about the Fokker Triplane. After transferring through three temporary squadron commands in two months, Voss was given command of Jagdstaffel 10 on 30 July 1917 at Richthofen's request. By now, his victory total was 34.

His last stand came on 23 September 1917, just hours after his 48th victory. Flying a silver-blue Fokker Dr.1, he singly fought James McCudden, Keith Muspratt, Harold A. Hamersley, Arthur Rhys Davids, Robert L. Chidlaw-Roberts, Geoffrey Hilton Bowman, Reginald Hoidge, and Richard Maybery. After he fell in solo opposition to those eight British aces after a dazzling display of aerobatics and gunnery that put bullets in his every opponent, he was described by his preeminent foe, Victoria Cross winner James McCudden, as "the bravest German airman". The pilot who actually killed Voss, Arthur Rhys-Davids, wished he had brought him down alive. The dogfight remains a subject of debate and controversy among aviation historians and interested parties.

Wintermut3 Deep Bass is back

This time Deep Bass  provides the texture and grit for a Gunfighter at his last stand, as he pulls round after round against impossible odds...we feel ever bullet impact its way through flesh and wood as they splinter and explode in rains of blood and sawdust...this song is more visceral than melodic as it paints the final moments of the stories' subject...The composition is actually timed at around 63 bpm, normally slow, but I wanted it to feel synced to roughly to the listeners sense of time in seconds--the speed of life...

The Gunfighter

Imagine a 70s era Arena show of your favorite band, and just as the music hits a strong point, the music cuts to a Drummer Solo--however due to the magic of Modeled drums and modern music software--this is not a solo.. .but. more of a duo...that is right two drummers, two kits (One standard, one "Metal" ) completely in sync... it might sound something like what I am attempting here... the music has just cut out....enjoy...

5th version, 1st update: added two new "B" sections to bring variety ,  complexity, and a greater sense of epic-ness that I wanted from the get go. Separated the drums in the spectrum to keep more bold and open...

Background: in days of old: it was "King's way", "King's Highway" or "Kings Row", "Le Grande Avenue", "Main Street" -or "The Boulevard"  but regardless name, it was and still is an Artery to the city, it was a:  "street of commerce" as it still is. At night it has a procession of cars out "cruising" as people from far and wide and unite in a sea of light and sound....it is in every major city in every nation in the world--it is the heartbeat of "civilization" 
This song wants to bring all of these idea/feelings to bear, to let the listener feel the cadence of  a thousand Boulevards...

A  Touch of Jazz

In nuclear engineering, a critical mass is the smallest amount of fissile material needed for a sustained nuclear chain reaction.  This track seeks to creation a "Metal" Critical Mass by using a minimum "Metal" elements--power chorded guitars, Metal Drums, Metal Bass....

Began as an experiment of mixing metal elements with Vocoding. Using not just a single Power chorded Distorted guitar as the Carrier in the vocode but the main guitar bus so that the carrier frequency was modified and shaped over time by all the electric guitars

Regardless of his existence, he lives in each and every Ukrainian. I pulled upon various Folk and Patriotic Folk Ukrainian songs for the Ghosts riffs and themes. 
The opening repeating "alert"-like theme is the Russian Su-30s which are  then chased down by the "Ghost"

The Pond

The Turn is present in many things: Jokes, Cards, etc. It is that point where something expected turns into to something different than expected and you laugh at a punchline, or win or lose at Texas Hold'em, etc.  Life has The Turn too and apparently so does music ;)  This is built around a 3 part progression that doesn't fully "mature" until... "The Turn" in that progression...lets call it a study of progression and progressive ideas...

The Turn

I mostly made this to explore my new Modo Drum kit "Jazzy Drums" which is a Mahogany wood based Jazz kit and the new Modo Bass 2, but as many of my songs do, this one took on life of its own (most likely due to the overall emotional impact on me of the recent and horrible Uvalde Texas massacre ). The horns are programmed by me--as is everything else as per usual--from my i k multimedia milhavious orchestra 2 vst and really shows I think that that vst is versatile and can be used for more than classical music. This was created and mixed in FLStudio 20.x. The consistent but always evolving  glitch is run from Massive to Grossbeat  vst to the master which hopefully adds some low presence texture and a darker contrast to "lighter" horns as does the dirty bass

Somewhere just beyond reality lies the elementals light and shadow... after all what is "real" to most is what they can see or feel..  Light and shadow interact to make that vision or even perception of vision--Light and Shadow "resonant" on both a visual spectrum and an emotional one... Light 'emboldens' us and 'Shadow' makes us cautionary  We fear darkness and Shadow is the anteroom of that realm. These are two contrasting emotional states which we incorrectly label as good and evil, these latter two are perceived states and not universal  much less elemental. Never forget humankind has made "Good" and "Evil" in their own image to reflect there biases of "light and "shadow" among other thing of a similar nature...

A revisit of a song from a few years back, this time with the fusion of Trip-Hop and Jazz

I was never happy with the original, it didn't fit the style of the rest of the album, was mixed badly, etc--I am not taking it down, just off the album. So a few days back I was able to restore the original composition from an old drive and decided to give the song another "go". This track is much more what I wanted, but it is still lacking in some ways, or maybe I am just tired of working on it, it is a beast regardless... Once again, this is a new track that is found of the playlist of the First "Winter Wars Chronicles album"

'Deep Ocean' was the virtual Modo Drum (Jazz Kit) I created for my revisit to "Ocean Side". That kit featured very heavy damping on the heads and a very strong dark sound and was a very large kit (max of what Modo drum allowed) This track further explores that Jazz kit, and what it brings to the Wintermut3 over catalog and sound...

On the surface it seems like the same songs as other Wintermut3 albums, but as per usual--there are vast voice and composition changes and these are pretty much unique from songs that bear the same name--as always, the mix or sub-mix name will be unique. 

The Light Of You

I have always had a general rule about Wintermut3, "I make music I want to hear" A Part of that has been to overcome barriers and "traditions"  of what Electronic music has been and continues to be--the upshot being, Wintermut3 will move in directions (Funk, Metal, Rock, etc ) that are of interest, despite being a pure electronic artist. Note this does not exclude me from making more "common" types of Electronic music. I will never stop making--as long as I breathe--Trance, Jungle, Breakbeat, Techno, etc.

Welcome to my nearly 20 year journey:  my music project Wintermut3 originally created in late 1998, with a first public release in early 1999 on mp3.com and other Music sites...

Originally inspired by the works of William Gibson, Wintermut3 is about bringing the listener into the sights and visions of the music. 
The music is highly story and concept driven and is made to immerse the listener in mood and feeling. 
The overall goal is to take the listener to a place they have never been before.
Highly infused with the music of Progressive Rock (Yes, Rush, Genesis, etc.) and early electronic (Tomita, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, etc) all blended in with more "contemporary" electronic sounds (Massive attack, Enigma, Orbital, the Orb, BT, etc) into something I call: "Concept Electronica". None of the sounds you hear in Wintermut3 are "loops" or "samples" especially the more organic sounds (electric guitars, horns, etc), I lovingly lay every note and run them through various software (DAWs, VST, VSTi, etc) and or model the Instrument that renders them. I have spent many many years to get Wintermut3 to sound as "real" and organic as I can... I take great pride in this ;)
Regardless, what results is music that follows the original premise of my musical "project" Wintermut3--music that is a logical progression of what is known and loved up to the point of the project's inception over 16 years ago--In short, it is music "Built for the Future", not now...but it is always fine to like, love it now...
