Like many, I have been touched at least on an emotional and intellectual side by the current events in Ukraine. A few naive questions circle in my mind: how is this possible in 2022, that there are still territorial wars, with an entire population taken as an hostage, how can we sleep at night while innocents are being murdered, how can we help, what lesson can we learn from this… and why are we not learning better from our history?

Our planet has so much to offer, we are so advanced with technology, science, medicine, and yet the humanity kills itself from the inside. 

My heart is filled with sadness, confusion, frustration and as an artist I have learnt to feed my creativity with emotions and feelings. Here’s UKRAINE, an artistic take on this horrible tragedy, made my with language, #Techno. It will sound aggressive, fast, sad, futuristic, hopeful, I am paying tribute to the Ukrainian people and challenged myself with a subgenre of Techno, rolling at 145bpm, fast, like the world we live in.

RUNA welcomes Matias Freccia, from Córdoba Argentina, and his unique musical sensitivity. This music has all the detail, sophistication, and depth that RUNA intends to portray through Techno as the EP references ancient cultures.

The names of the tracks come from the Quechua language, the same culture of the Peruvian Andes from where RUNAl is inspired and takes its name. The EP is named after the first track “Songo”, a mixture of mysticism and sound experiments that open the doors of perception.

“Chhuga” immediately ushers us into Matias' world, beats that cradle the soul. “Gamelan” is deep, and plunges us into the subconscious. Following, hypnotic mind games course through the fourth track “Eko”.

The final track “Takix” closes the EP leaving the moods high, transporting us to distant realms with native voices and trippy melodies.

DJ Sodeyama readies ‘Makura EP’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects. 

Running the Arpa label from Japan since 2011, DJ Sodeyama has been actively involved in house and techno since the early 90s. Releasing music on labels such as Dynamic Reflection, Children of Tomorrow, Quartz and more under his The People In Fog alias, DJ Sodeyama now arrives on Radio Slave’s hard-hitting techno imprint Rekids Special Projects for his first appearance on the label. 

Leading the release is ‘Catura’, bringing gentle flowing pads and gorgeous twinkling synths before the trippy, acid-tinged ‘Kumbhira’ takes a darker turn, sending the listener down a polyrhythmic rabbit hole. ‘Makura’ ups the tempo, drawing for sharp and fast percussion hits amongst ghostly atmospherics, an atmosphere matched by the deep and rolling ‘Pajira’, before ‘Sandira’ closes the release with a moody heads-down track complete with hypnotic synthesis and quirky FX.

BIO:
Michal first stepped behind the decks in 2010, however he has been playing professionally since 2020. A graduate of the "Instytut Dźwięku" Academy and 2022 "Wisłocontest" laureate. He played at venues such as Smolna, Jasna 1 or Hydrozagadka, as well as at the Instytut and Wisłoujście festivals. He feels most comfortable playing Melodic House & Techno, however he always tries to diversify his sets by combining music from the various genres such as progressive House, Indie Dance and even Eurodance ;)
