Ghosted

This piece originated in a project to create an entire soundtrack for the 1924 Russian silent movie Aelita: Queen Of Mars, for which no original score exists. Contributors were each given a section of the film to create an accompaniment for, which could be in any genre or style. 

According to legend Dimitri Shostakovich himself provided live piano accompaniment at the film's premiere, but no record of this lost music exists. So my starting point became an imaginary Shostakovich score, based around samples of existing recordings of his work manipulated to create a new soundscape.
