Beauty And Cape

The title of this track is a reference to the wartime term "no quarter", which also means "take no prisoners". The 'blood' red flag is often used as a symbol of this horrible practice and, in fact, it is considered a war crime to refuse to spare the life of anybody - i.e. to refuse quarter. The term "No Quarter" prompted me to research the meaning, which is where the concept for the song title came from.

In the original 1999 version of this tune, the only instrument was the echo-y electric piano sound, which was influenced heavily by the song "No Quarter" by Led Zeppelin. This is another tune I'd recommend listening to with headphones because of the heavy panning movement throughout.

We are not judging anyone, we are just asking you to think for a moment, because what we have done and continue to do to our planet and each other, is actually unsustainable for our future generations. We must ask; "how will the lack of vital fresh water in a few decades affect humanity's possibility of continued existence?"  Part 3 ponders the painful answer to that question.

When I first heard this I instantly picked up a  blusey mid eastern flavour to it and decided to pick up on that theme. I used Pauls track "Remember" in it's entirety with no edits to do some post production work around it, picking up on that eastern vibe I was getting !! Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday of your choice(s)!! Most of what few holiday songs I have done, I have put an unexpected twist in the middle. For example, Valentines day I did an ambient candy outer shell with a chewy jazzy center. Or last Christmas, I did a song called Bipolar Charlie (Brown) which took a happy Peanuts song and made it dark in the middle in an unexpected turn of events. Here's this holiday's take with a twist on the old classic; "Oh Christmas Tree".

Recalling some tequila, love words and more with them in that Ibiza bar, I wondered: “What if Pink Floyd met the spirit of Camarón de la Isla… in my bedroom?” I used lots of guitars, basses, etc. on a 12/8 beat, to enclose 3/4, 6/4 & 8/8 rhythms along.
