While Detroit-born Dakim lived in Los Angeles he spun webs of avant-garde rhythms into the golden air, leaving an indelible mark. Although he has since moved to Berkeley, California, his scattered shadows still hover in LA’s beat scene consciousness. Now, Leaving Records releases Reishi, a new LP under Dakim’s Saafron moniker — his platform for skewed club music and hip-hop instrumentals. The infectiously swinging “Mana” debuted on LAndscape, RBMA Radio’s weekly survey of Los Angeles music hosted by Frosty.
