No More

Don't Let Me Go

He was barely a boy,
with broken sandals and little bread,
begging for words in the plazas,
sleeping beneath the weathered olive trees.

They called him Eliam,
and no one noticed his steps,
but his soul was clear like the water
that grew scarce in the fields.

One day, on the edge of a path,
he crossed a man dressed in dust and silence.
His eyes gave off light, his face was weary,
and he spoke with the peace of one
who has conquered fear.

"Are you hungry?" the man asked.
"For bread… and something I don’t understand," the boy said.

Jesus smiled with the sorrow of those who know,
and offered him his hand.
“Then follow me. There is still light before the weeping.”

They walked together to the sacred garden,
where the shadow of the cross already hung in the air,
and there, in the night where the soul weeps,
Jesus stopped, looked at the boy,
and in a quiet voice, said:

"To you I show what is not yet.
Not so you will fear,
but so that when it comes,
you will recognize the sign."

Jesus placed his fingers on his right eye,
and in a slow and solemn gesture,
he removed it, as one opens a sealed portal.
He placed it in the boy’s hand—
and the world stood still.

Eliam fell to his knees.
The eye shone like a contained sun.
And when he looked through the hollow
where the eye had been, he saw...

the heavens spinning in strange ways,
as if the world’s axis had broken.
The clouds were green and rained burning stones,
the sea boiled like stirred blood.
Cities collapsed without sound,
and men and women ran,
crying out for water, for air,
for a God who no longer answered.

In the heart of the chaos,
there was fire.
But not divine fire—
a fire born of human hands,
fueled by pride, greed, and forgetfulness.

Eliam tried to scream.
But he had no voice.
And when he came back to himself, his eyes met Jesus’ again—
his tears were blood.

“Apocalypse,” the Master whispered.
“And you, John… you will write it when the time comes.”

And so, Eliam ceased to be a boy,
and the world resumed its spinning.
Jesus placed the eye back in its place
and kissed the boy’s forehead.

“Do not fear what you have seen.
Fear not living what time still gives you,
without love.”
