I wrote this song a few years ago.

And this time I re-recorded all of my guitar and keyboard plays and I added some beats and synth sound as my own arrangement. I found the synth sound like “stormy wind” that reminds me of one scene of a war cinema where a white bird was flying away over the soldiers’ heads in the thunder storm . That’s the inspiration of this arrangement. I’ll be happy if you listen and let me know how you feel!

Misty Eyes

So happy to be able to share a new track made with the brilliant @debra_buesking

This Scottish inspired Celtic track gets it name from the opening words of a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins (posted below).  For those unaware, a burn is the Scottish/Northern English word for a small river.  The title also reminds me of the look and feel of  that other Scottish liquid Whiskey!  Have a wee dram while you listen.

Inversnaid

This darksome burn, horseback brown,
His rollrock highroad roaring down,
In coop and in comb the fleece of his foam
Flutes and low to the lake falls home.

A windpuff-bonnet of fáwn-fróth
Turns and twindles over the broth
Of a pool so pitchblack, féll-frówning,
It rounds and rounds Despair to drowning.

Degged with dew, dappled with dew
Are the groins of the braes that the brook treads through,
Wiry heathpacks, flitches of fern,
And the beadbonny ash that sits over the burn.

What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left,

My new song ‘We Could Shake Stars From the Sky’. I made this track entirely myself (aside from the drums) using my acoustic guitar and an 80s synthesiser. The track has a dark, ambient production. I love the sound of pipe organs which are featured here and I never understand why more musicians and producers don’t use them. I hope you enjoy the track!

Tree Skeleton began honestly as desperate prayers for ease and answers in a period of my life where I really knew I was lost and had been for several years. Not that what I was learning wasn't a part of my path, but I was continually choosing to learn life's lessons the hard way. For the first time in my life, I sought out real help. Not just a temporary ailment through the kindness of friends, family, and mentors that I asked for only when in the direst of straights, but for help to not continue the cycle of mental and emotional turmoil that I had been "persevering" through my whole life. 

The music has evolved to not only be an expression of my darker half, my shadow self but also filled up with words of inspiration from my higher self and the Light of Spirit. The messages I left in audio recording through these songs serve as a constant reminder of how far I've come and reminded me of the messages I need to hear when old inner demons attempt to creep up again. 

My ultimate goal is not only to present music and art that helps me heal but also helps others to heal. I hope what I make reaches and helps heal people's hearts and spirits. Music literally has saved my life as far as I'm concerned, both as a fan in my youth and as an adult musician. I have always wanted to make a beautiful album that shows the softer side of my creative force, and I have!

With Stones in His Pockets is Rob, a singer songwriter from London. He has been writing music as With Stones in His Pockets since 2001. His work ranges from psych-folk to experimental pop, and has been described as 'folk with stage-show drama'. Rob has released 3 eps and 2 albums. 'Missives', was released in Spring, 2023.
