CYCLES  

The world consists of cycles. Ying, Yang. Day, night. Eb, flow.  Civilizations come and go. Things get constructed and deconstructed. Everything tends to balance everything out perfectly in the end. Just like the world is cyclical so is music, taste and life. Constructs like ethnicity, cultural belonging and gender are just as easily built as they are destroyed. Cycles represents the dance of constructing and deconstructing. Everything comes, everything goes. Man wins over nature, nature wins over man. Man makes, man destroys.  
 
This album works through cycles of life and music as WIWEK works through cycles himself. Sometimes he makes party music, sometimes he makes soundscapes. Sometimes he does not make make music at all.  Understanding that all things are cyclical, balancing in the middle and translating that into his music and visuals is what this concept album is about.

This spring, twenty DJ/producers from the Netherlands descended on a cottage in the north of France and converted it into a studio complex. Label heads Yellow Claw, as well as Mike Cervello, Moksi, LNY TNZ, The Galaxy, Dirtcaps, Mightyfools, FS Green, Cesqeaux, Fountain Of Youth, FS Green and Wiwek all dropped by to contribute heat.

Over seven days, in various combinations, they wrote and produced the 15 new tracks on the Barong Family Album. The album is available for stream and free download as of now. The album is preceded by a short documentary, and followed by a Barong Family world tour.
