Debbie wrote this slow building song from the point of view of a woman at a party who notices her partner walking into another room.  She follows and sees him talking to another woman, therein lies her insecurity.  The tune builds while, on reflection, she realises that they are secure together and she is “the best you ever had”.

A song inspired by a phrase that popped out of my oldest granddaughter's mouth, and which subsequently became the title; and by the recent death of an old school friend. He is the first of that particular group of friends to pass away, which no doubt forces those friends still alive to face up to their own mortality. This is my response . . .

I’ve always been the shortest; to be accepted, sometimes I’d play the fool
I remember us lads, drinking pint after pint, way back, way back in our youthful days
I love to reminisce with you and laugh at our wild & drunken ways
The wife is calling out to me that I should really, really try to eat
I swallow some, but all I taste is metal … and defeat

It’s been so long since we spoke to each other, I wish, I wish that I could stay
I’d love to reminisce with you & laugh at those crazy, long-gone days
But I can barely speak right now, I’m bombed out up to the eyes
