This is also the last episode of 2023, and I’m so grateful for what’s been an incredible year of episodes. I’m happy to say that AIR has grown since last year, but on top of that, I feel more and more like I’m making something of value. This month’s episode welcomes Russian producer, composer, live performer, and sound artist @Dasha-Rush. Dasha has become known for pushing the boundaries of music and art, exploring the visual realm through AV projects, performance, and art installations, including use of spatial sound, generative imagery, light, and even dance performance. The constant seeker, Dasha’s fascination about everything from science to black holes to the human brain have opened up her productions beyond the realm of every day techno. In this conversation we explore her every intricate curiosity and how they intertwine with her music, her art, and her life.

“Untamed” follows with a fluid, rolling groove, where all elements are elegantly woven together. The vocal evokes surrender to the course of this mysterious life, driven by a mystical pad that adds spaciousness and introspection.

“Aphrodite” slows the tempo into a sensual groove with a dreamy soundscape.

The EP includes a remix of “Rhythm” by End Train, who reimagines the track, transporting the vocal into a haunting new realm.

“Dark Current is more than a technical phenomenon, it’s a metaphor for the world we live in. Inspired by the dark current phenomenon in electronics: a silent force that moves through a system even in the absence of an external trigger, This EP is the sound of an unstable world, the state of constant flux we live, driven by an unstoppable current of technological progress, social shifts, and existential uncertainty. It captures the tension between evolution and distortion, between advancement and the unforeseen consequences it brings. A sonic transmission from the edge of time, where evolution and uncertainty merge in an endless circuit: Waves of distortion collide with pulsing rhythms, acid lines crackle like disrupted signals, and ethereal pads drift through magnetic turbulence.
