If Nicola Noir’s soundscape were a landscape, it wouldn’t be the mountains of his native Switzerland. It would be a milky way of colours and spinning planets, with shooting stars whizzing by and the occasional Urban Cosmonaut Spaceship hovering on the horizon, listening intently for the next surprise in their ears.
Off and up we go, left and right and topsy turvy into the the 16th episode of our podcast series. Nicola’s productions are gateways into spheres of twinkling melodies, timeless wormholes and shining percussions. His sound could be described as a jittering wave of melancholia, wrapped in eclectic rhythms of longing and stardust.

The last few years his focus is more on the dubtechno genre. When yourelistening to his set you get your confirmation. He combines older and new records, longer and shorter tracks to keep his set interesting. We asked him to start off easy and finish his set like you are about going to party. We think he delivered, enjoy this podcast with much love from the land of the tulips.

This was my last set of Burning Man 2017. It was a set that didn't happen earlier in the week and got re-scheduled for the last sunrise set at the Love Cow camp. 

The set became a beautiful testament to the love of my intimate group of wonderful friends who showed up after the Man Burn(and the ones who showed up earlier by mistake and had to leave). It also became a testament to the love of the wonderful people at the Love Cow camp who gave me another opportunity to perform at their stage even though things didn't work out earlier in the week. I hope you enjoy this moving journey in which I debuted my Remembrance track, dedicated to my departed friend from childhood by the end of the set.

This EP is inspired by the cultural heritage which the Argentines and Chileans seek to perpetuate. Ulises has developed cultural and emotional bonds towards the natives, whose struggles he feels and shares. Struggles for their own traditions, their own lands and their own existence. Thanks to the resistance of cultures like the Mapuche we can now enjoy traditional melodies and instruments, such as kultrungs, charangos and quenas, that Ulises skilfully merges with an electronic timber palette to achieve the deep organic sound that we can appreciate in this EP. 
Uña pays homage to the acclaimed quena player Uña Ramos, from the mountainous Jujuy province. Pewünguen derives from a chant in Mapudungun, the Mapuche language, that celebrates the rebirth of nature in spring. Here, the artist adopts the same chant metaphorically, to wish the rebirth of the Mapuches. 
Musician by formation, Ulises plays guitar, keyboard, and drums. Such multi-instrumental skills provide him with a broad range of sounds to blend and wedge into the electronic beat. Talking about the aesthetic he craves, Ulises stated “I want to have the possibility to choose any timber from any source I feel the music needs. No limits!” …and limitless is his desire to explore the vastness of sounds, to experiment new combinations. 
Besides the original tracks, the EP comprises four gems by Carrot Green, Steffen Kirchoff, Arutani, Coss & Iorie, who remixed Ulises’ productions.

Spinning at some of the most popular underground venues in Germany (among them Tape Club, Berghain/Panorama Bar, SchwuZ, Tresor, ://about blank (Berlin) and Robert Johnson (Frankfurt/Offenbach)) as well as playing across the world, Massi describes his style as an eclectic mix of house, disco, electro and techno – one may call it current-yet-classic. DJing has since led to production,
these days Massi lets his obsession with analog synths run wild, usually he’s holed up in his apartment studio, working on his latest productions. But he’s not always alone. Massi has been collaborating with luminaries around town such as Gui.Tar, Snax, Lemercier & The Lala by, Molly Nilsson and Discodromo. The two members of Gui.Tar and Massi later formed [sic!], since2010 he's been collaborating with Rotciv – as The Rimshooters. Massi also released an EP on Apersonal Music under the alias Egyptian Nipples together with Jules Etienne. 2011 saw the release of his debut album Focus For Infinity (on Live At Robert Johnson), followed by his second long player With One Another (also LARJ) in 2014. Last but not least he’s also one half of the DJ-team Drei Fragezeichen (the other half being nd_baumecker).

Solid Steel (20th April) In Hour 1 we welcome Venetian composer, musician, producer, and polymath Gigi Masin. Before he started producing in the 1980s, culminating in the release of his cult 1987 debut Wind, Venetian ambient maestro Gigi Masin experimented with sound as a radio host and sound designer for theatres in the 1970s. 
In 2014, recent guests Music From Memory released Talk To The Sea, a retrospective of the past 30 years of Gigi’s output, and it marked the start of the wider
recognition Gigi so richly deserved. Through the label, Gigi met British producer and label head Jonny Nash (from Melody as Truth) and cult Dutch DJ and producer Marco Sterk (alias Young Marco), forming the trio Gaussian Curve and releasing their debut Clouds on the label in 2015 and he recently released a seven track LP on Bandcamp called KITE. The same passion that later drove his production – his innate and rebellious musicality – drove his selections, and drive them again on this exclusive mix made from his beloved 7-inches, some of which he says “haven’t been played since the 80s”. Equal parts psychedelic, prismatic, moody, wistful, and downright funky, these are the 7-inches that Gigi loves the most: “for me, 7-inches are pure joy – as objects and souvenirs, improving the beauty and happiness that music can give us”.
You can catch Gigi at the Jazz Cafe in London on 10th May.
