It’s hard to overstate the importance of ‘The Final Frontier’ in shaping modern electronic music. First released in 1992 by the unapologetically political Detroit collective, Underground Resistance, it remains an essential classic in the story of Techno. Underground Resistance’s stated objective was to “[electrify] the inner city with hi-tech, sci-fi thoughts and dreams”; to offer working-class Black Americans, through music, a vision of a bright future through community action. Final Frontier was the first of many tracks which underlined this mission in bold type.

The great Afrofuturist tradition of imagining Black emancipation through space travel is upfront; both in the Star Trek-referencing title, as well as in the music itself, which sounds like the perfect re-scoring to the “Stargate” scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Now, nearly 30 years after it was first unleashed, there is not a serious techno fan who does not consider this to belong on the highest echelon of electronic music’s Pantheon.

Transparent Sound are the original dons of UK electro, not exactly household names yet an act with so many under-repped classics that once you dive into their catalogue you might end up emptying your bank account on Discogs. 

To save you going down this calamitous path as well as to finally, raise TS to the level of notoriety they deserve, Tresor Records is very proud to announce the release of Accidents 1994-2023.

Formed by Orson Bramley and Martin Brown in Bognor Regis in 1994, Transparent Sound have managed to create 30 years' worth of some of the best electro from the British Isles, despite claiming to not know what they were doing nor how their instruments work. 

It's likely that it's this lack of knowledge that led to the quality and longevity of their output - the pair experiment and tinker with the machines until something pleasing appears then follow that sound down whatever path seems fruitful: "the confidence of ignorance" as a slightly more-famous Orson, Orson Welles, once put it. 

This tactic has paid off well and found them stumbling into many notable adventures, from remixing The Cure to performing during an intermission between two halves of a lecture - none of which they understood as it was in Spanish.

The compilation collects a lucky-for-you 13 of their most glorious electrical accidents on a three-disc set including the dancefloor hits Punk Mother Fucker (a mainstay of Villalobos sets at the time of release), and No Call From New York (as heard on Helena Hauff's perfect 2017 Essential Mix).

The package also comes with 'Windows To Your Sole' from the unreleased white label Transparent Sound 007, other unreleased tracks, and special 2023 edits as well as six digital bonus tracks.

‘Rise And Shine’, the first full Ostgut Ton solo release by Substance (aka @Peter-Kuschnereit), sees him fusing his deep, industrial aesthetic with the resonant bass-heavy leanings of his alter ego DJ Pete, as evidenced on the title track’s off-kilter metallic riddims and multiple, interlaced SH-101 and Prophet 5 melodies. From there, potential set-closer “Countdown” blasts off with relentlessly rattling, scraping breaks, hissing German vox and big chords. The compact explorations of “Bird Cave” and “Distance” offer a more atmospheric take on bass and rhythm, while EP closer “Cruising” re-explores the uncanny, Berlin deep techno cosmos Kuschnereit has helped define, this time in denser form.

Mülheim Deluxe is a musical project by the Voigt-brothers Reinhard and Wolfgang. It has its roots in the largest district of Cologne on the right bank of the Rhine: Mülheim. To get there, one has to cross the Mülheim bridge. To some extent, Mülheim is the Brooklyn of Cologne.

The seven tracks on the digital album »Mülheim Deluxe 1« vary between the Voigt & Voigt typical fun-techno-bangers, known from their Kompakt Extra/Speicher or Erdingertrax releases, and some abstract-minimalistic surrealism of Pop. While partying with the ghosts of the Internet’s pop-cinema, genres and rules of taste are annulled; men and machines are pushed to the limits of creative foolishness.

Starring Giorgi Jincharadze a.k.a. @generali_minerali, the producer, DJ and live performer hails from the capital of Tbilisi. His tracks have a unique and provocative sound which has found him releases on labels like @rfr-records, @crobotmuzik, @mindcontrolledrectifier, and many others. As an artist with no barriers, outside of his own productions, he is also a @dramabartbilisi crew member, which is based in his hometown. 

For this instalment, he presents us with an exclusive live set which represents his journey through late-night sounds.

Wolfgang Voigt, born in 1961 in Cologne, Germany, is an artist, music producer, label owner and one of the co-founders of the Cologne-based electronica and techno label Kompakt.

Working under many different project names and pseudonyms (e.g. Mike Ink, Studio1, M:I:5, GAS, Love Inc., Freiland, Wassermann…), Wolfgang Voigt has continuously varied his own, unmistakable music style from the onset of the 1990s, spanning the spectrum from creating experimental and unusual hybrids by combining elements of techno with German Schlager and folk music, to pioneering, austere minimalistic concept techno series such as Studio1, a series that was limited to 10 vinyl releases, the cover of each bearing a plain color design without any text.

Dabei gehören eigenwillige Kreuzungen aus Techno und Schlager- oder Volksmusikanleihen, ebenso zu seinem experimentellen Repertoire, wie stilprägende, formstreng minimalistische Konzepttechno Reihen wie Studio1 - eine auf zehn Vinyl Veröffentlichungen beschränkte Serie, deren grafische Covergestaltung sich ganz ohne Text, nur durch Farben unterscheidet.
