I have not attempted an authentic rendition but have extracted those elements  - melodic, rhythmic and harmonic - that were useful to me. The use of material from a Palestinian folksong requires no further explanation in the current climate; this composition stands as a threnody for Gaza, intended as a humanitarian response whilst making both a plea for peace and a demand for justice.
