I manually program every single note. I am inspired by The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. And Lord of the Rings. And a bucketload of other stuff, too. My oldest-most-potent influence (a joint maximum, or hypermaximum—not sure if there's a technical term for that...yet) among living composers of a similar genre and bent would have to be Pete Townshend of The Who. My mom would play The Who in the car for me all the time when I was in elementary school, and I grew up loving their music: transported and inspired by its many textures, moods, and energetic confluxes.
