Globe-trotting beatmaker Captain Planet returns to soundsystems worldwide with his hotly anticipated sophomore album Esperanto Slang, a transformative LP which further illuminates the “Gumbo Funk” producer’s fluency in breaking boundaries between genres and bridging continents through rhythm. Steeped in finely-tuned collaborations with artists from across the map, the album documents the Captain’s continued musical travels in the wake of his critically-acclaimed 2011 debut album Cookin’ Gumbo and subsequent ‘Mystery Trip’ beat-tape (heralded “Best Music of 2012” by Sasha Frere-Jones in The New Yorker). 

Led by the smashing Latin-House single “Un Poquito Mas” featuring Spanish lyrics from fellow international beats don Chico Mann(Soundway), the album also finds Captain Planet traveling South to join forces with esteemed Argentinian electronic chanteuse La Yegros (ZZK) on “Que Quiero Volver”, as well as Brazilian artists Samira Winter and Nevilton on the Samba heater “Tudo de Bom”. Jumping to the motherland, “Safaru” showcases the Sudanese vocalist and NPR darling Alsarah’s soaring Arabic vocals, with horn arrangements by L.A. brass legend and Kelis’s bandleader Todd Simon. A banging Bachata-infused club anthem “Perdido en el Excesso” further weaves a transcontinental thread with the help of Berlin-based rapper Paco Mendoza, while the crushing reggae vibes of the album’s 7-inch single “In The Gray” brings the islands to the West Coast with the help of soul singer Brit Laurén backed by horns from supergroup The Lions (Ubiquity). 

Throughout the entire album, border-crossing collaborations on both vocal and instrumental tracks seamlessly translate the musical synergies between global dancefloor cultures. Blending a wide range styles from NY hip-hop, UK bass and Turkish psychedelic, to Nigerian afrobeat and Amazonian funk, Esperanto Slang demonstrates that Captain Planet’s trademark sound has matured into a truly unique form of electronic music, connecting scenes and languages worldwide through his mellifluous sonic thesaurus.

"T'estim" by LissA & Goodman beautifully explores the delicate tension of unspoken love. Set against a warm, Afro House beat, the song captures the moment when you deeply feel "I love you" yet hold back, uncertain if it's mutual. "T’estim" — a Mallorquín phrase for "I love you" — adds a personal touch, echoing the song's origin in Mallorca.

Steadfast in the studio working on the new album for Autumn 2017, here's another hint at what's been going on in the world of Nickodemus' latest creations & collaborations.  "Mystic Molay" features Hassan Ben Jaafe, a Maâlem, or master Gnawa musician & his group Innov Gnawa. The song's lyrics reference & welcome the ancient Sufi mystic teacher Molay Abdelkader Jilani (Moroccan spelling) or Abd al-Qadir Gilani (Iraq/ Persian spelling). Recording the vocals & hajhuj (or gimbri), metal qarqaba (castanets) & the kouyos (chorus) & topping it all off with melodies on whirlitzer & violins, Nickodemus brings back that old school analog funk grooves known on his earlier albums collaborating with live musicians. In the spirit of club culture, Nickodemus solicited the remix talents of Aroop Roy who dropped a modern broken beat house version as well as Umoja's stripped down Cumbia meets Gnawa version for the dance-floor. Set to be released June 2 & the full album for October 2017.

After the release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album Manara in the fall of 2016, Alsarah & The Nubatones return with an selection of carefully curated all-star remixes off the project. Tapping friends & family worldwide, Manara Remixed brings Alsarah & The Nubatones’ signature East African Retro Pop into further explorations of deep, dubby, dancefloor and cosmic electronic sounds. 

French producer and Soundway Recordings artist iZem kicks things off with a bass heavy, dancefloor murdering take on “Alforag”, while fellow Sudanese producer Oddisee takes “3yan T3ban” into beautiful, mellow hip-hop territory. Italian producer and Wonderwheel alum DJ Khalab gives “Salam Nubia” a percussion heavy reversioning with his signature driving production style, and Captain Planet turns the melancholy “Ya Watan” into an Arabic Dabke influenced stomper. House takes come from both Nickodemus & Kiko Navarro and Pablo Fierro, the former taking a Acid House meets East Africa approach on “Nar” , letting Alsarah’s vocals shine through in the latter half of the track, while Fierro delivers a pulsing, late night version of “Fulani” that would rumble both the Burning Man Playa and a Berlin warehouse equally as tough. Finally, Karthoum based rising star Sufyvn showcases his deft sample chopping skills on “Albahr”, letting the percussion, drums and oud shine through.
