I'm not a musician in any realistic sense of the word. I know which notes are which on a piano, but that's about the extent of my instrumental skills. Any sounds I produce, musical, remotely musical or otherwise are entirely dependent upon computers and software. Typical musical structure also eludes me. It could be that I have no business doing this at all, but like a dog that can’t stop chasing cars, I keep charging ahead, irrespective of sketchy results.

To feed my pipe dreams, I spent many years getting to know Propellerhead Reason. More recently, I have been fascinated with modular synthesis. I started with Reaktor, a suitable virtual surrogate and then I discovered VCV Rack, which may be as close as you can get to an actual hardware modular synthesizer in the virtual world — and it's FREE!

But still craving the tactile experience, I eventually gave in and began filling a 104hp case with actual Eurorack modules.
