　 DJ Mitsu the Beatsが２年の歳月を費やし、徳島のあらゆる営みや自然から採取した音源を元に制作したコンセプチュアル・ニュー・アルバム『TURN TABLE』をリリース。
　
　徳島の文化と食を通して人々の交流を育むカルチュアル・スポットとして渋谷区神泉に2/4にOPENしたTurn TableとJazzy Sportのコラボレーション・プロジェクトとして、足掛け２年をかけて制作された本作『TURN TABLE』。DJ Mitsu the Beatsが採取した徳島でのフィールド・レコーディング音源を元に、ワールドワイドな活動を展開するストリングス・デュオOtoji+Rayとのコラボレーションを交えた全8曲のインストゥルメンタル作品になっている。

 空港でのフィールドレコーディングから幕開け、エレクトリック・ピアノとヴァイオリンが温かな情景を描くメロー・グルーヴ 「the first sight」。鳥の鳴き声に導かれて、トランペットも交えて雄大な世界をグルーヴィーに描く「wilderness」。川のせせらぎと溶け合う様にアンビエンス溢れるムードを伝える「 pristine」。ウッドベースとピアノがリードする躍動的なジャズ・アプローチ作品「old town uplift」。同じくウッドベースに導かれて、まるでLonnie Liston SmithとJean-Luc Pontyのコレボレーションを夢想させるかの様に、ハウス・グルーヴのジャズ/フュージョンを展開させた「saltation」。エレクトリック・ピアノが自然の幻想観をイメージさせるオーガニック・ダウンテンポ「how the day goes」。列車のSEと共に、美しい景色の移り変わりが浮かぶ様な音世界をビートに乗せる「through wheel window 」。そして優美なストリングスの旋律が、アルバムのラストに相応しい、温かさで包み込む「 a nostalgic note」。

先頃リリースされたばかりのGAGLEのニューアルバム『VANTA BLACK』でも、そのビートサイエンス/サウンドの進(深)化を印象づけたDJ MItsu the Beatsのオリジナリティ溢れる音世界は、本作『TURN TABLE』でのフィールドレコーディング、ストリングス・デュオとのコラボレーションで更なる広がりを魅せている。

I learned today that Daniel Carey, aka EOM, has passed away.
 
It might come as a surprise, but EOM is the reason I'm here today and that you can listen to my music. He convinced me to begin making music after introducing me to an entirely new side to music with his videos on music production. Yes, artists like J Dilla and Madlib have a much clearer, stronger influence on my sound, but none of that would be there were in not for E introducing me to a different side of music. 

I'm here in a foreign country following my dreams and making more music than I ever have in my life before because of him. 

I wish I told him that.

Rest in peace E. We'll miss you.

’14年に解散した日本が世界に誇るアフロ・ビート・バンドKingdom☆Afrocksのフロントマン＝☆.A/NAOITOが、長年の沈黙を破り新たなLIFE MUSICを解き放つ！待望のフル・レコーディング・アルバム『☆.A』をリリース！！

　1960年代後半にナイジェリアのFela Kutiが生み出したアフロ・ビート音楽。Felaの死後も、アフリカ、アメリカ、イギリス、そしてここ日本にもその影響とスピリットは継承され進化を続けている。今年に入りRobert GlasperプロデュースによるFelaの末息Seun Kutiのアルバム、そして長男Femi Kutiのアルバムがリリースされる等、更なる注目度が高まる中、2014年に解散した日本が世界に誇るアフロ・ビート・バンドKingdom Afrocksのフロントマン＝☆.A/NAOITOが、その沈黙を破る待望のフル・アルバム『☆.A 』を完成させ遂にリリースする。
　
　Kingdom Afrocks解散後、生活と音楽活動の拠点を東京から鎌倉へと移した☆.A/NAOITO。移住後、詩や歌にして表現するだけでは満足できなくなり、実践へと繋がる自らのイノベーションに木工を選び、大工の手元として働らき、その傍ら子を授かる等、様々な変化や成長、人間交流、音楽体験を育んできた。およそ１年間の歳月をかけて制作された本作『☆.A 』は、それら全ての経験が集約/昇華された音楽作品であり、ひとつのファインアートとしての輝きを放っている。

 アルバムには、今作品の共同プロデュースを担いFoolish Felixとのdedicationとしての活動でも世界的な評価の高いMikey Varrot (jazzysport/cinema caravan)、大工の親方でもありdedicationをはじめ様々な作品やLIVEに参画してきた鍵盤奏者"Bocchi"こと高橋雅裕、そしてKingdom☆Afrocks後期のホーンセクションをリードしたsax.KIDS＝橋本剛秀、同じくKingdom☆Afrocksでフリー＆スピリチュアルジャズなsaxを奏できた稲田貴貞、NAOITObandのドラムスを担当してきた和田KGらが参加。レコーディング・エンジニアには、Jazzsy Sport作品は元より、土岐麻子、cero、Suchmos、Fla$hBackS等の作品も手掛けている奥田泰次(studio MSR)を迎えている。

 かつてMile Davisが"未来の音楽"として語った二つの音楽がヒップホップとアフロビートであった。その音楽がこうしてまた新たに日本から発せられ、オーガニックでテクノなグルーヴと多幸感が世界へと拡散していく様をどうか見逃さないで欲しい。これは全てのLittle Drummer Boyへの讃歌であり、日本発の音楽という素敵なシュプレヒコールなのかもしれない。
