It's so interesting that people are being pushed to buy homes because of high rent costs. You would think that because people have less money, they wouldn't be buying homes, but its crazy that buying a house can actually be less expensive than renting sometimes.

I knew how hard it was for people to buy homes currently, but I did not know how hard it was to be a homeowner in Lexington! It's crazy how high rent and the interest rates are right now. I feel like retirees are not downsizing as much as the should though.

Although I was aware of the limitations in home ownership for many, I was not informed about many of the issues that are keeping people from finding homes - specifically the experience of people of color purchasing homes in Kentucky, solely because I am white and privileged enough to have never encountered or heard of these difficulties. I think of my hometown, which is made up of an almost entirely white population, and I cannot imagine being a person of color trying to access housing in a region such as my own and finding somewhere that feels safe. Thank you so much for this - I have learned so much!!
