Once upon a time, a long time ago, a woman was watering her sheep. Her husband had reminded her to be sure and cover the well tightly when she was done as water was scarce.

But when she was done watering the sheep, she forgot to close the well. Soon, the well filled and the water poured out. It flowed and flowed, and flooded the grassland at the bottom of the hill. The sheep bleated in fright.

The woman tried to stop the flow of water by covering the well. But the water was moving too rapidly. It tossed the cover into the air, and poured even more forcefully out of the well.

Just then, a warrior came riding by.

"Can you help me?" the woman cried. "I cannot stop the water!"

The warrior shot an arrow into the tallest mountain, splitting it in two. One part fell onto the well and stopped the water from pouring out.

The woman turned to the warrior, eager to thank him and to offer him food to eat when suddenly something occurred to her. She blurted, "But how will I get to the water again? It is under a mountain."

The warrior only bowed and smiled and went on his way.

When the woman realized that she had not offered food or greeting, she hung her head in shame.

The start of a new week and yet another pay-what-you-want single to set it off right. This week MalLabel Music has got a slow and fluid UK Dub collaboration by two of the Bay Area’s finest, Golden Eye and Poppa Doses.

Golden eye likes to keep is real low with some high tech caribbean vibes to cruise the beaches to. No stranger to fresh sound design, he melts all things new into his dubby Bass Music creations. Poppa Doses on the other hand has been griming it up on the Garage infused Trap tip lately and always had a flare for the UK Dub sound. It seemed inevitable that these two would link up to bring that deep underground sound back down to the ground with a low end vibe rich enough to drop anchor to. ‘Cherry Pie Dub’ is a glitchy Lo-Fi gem with no shortage of space age elements to trip to. Rock that boat and get your groove on, real slow like.

The Utah-based audiophile and producer Foxtail reinvents his own wheel with Revontulet. Foxtail’s sound is categorically fluid in every way, and he succeeds in delivering on that fluidity yet again. Each aspect of his songwriting process has continued to mature, from the precise production to the crisp engineering. This maturation process has resulted in a tonally balanced set of five songs that together weave an emotional membrane.

Each track pairs off with the one ahead of it in a spacious, harmonious dance. The synthesis patching across the release is consistent and direct, creating a continuity that holds the record together like glue. Two tracks feature careful, syncopated vinyl cuts that dart through the percussion layers, combining dancefloor sentimentalities with downtempo ambience. Foxtail’s rhythmic structures are concise and hypnotic, carrying each composition straight from headphones to headspace.

Returning fans will remember his last release, Kitsune, as a melodious terminal into the Foxtail audio mythology. Revontulet is its natural successor, honing in on and evolving his undeniably dynamic style. Grouped together with his first release, Vosmana, these three EP’s makeup a dynamic trilogy that spans across the musical mindset of Foxtail.
