As the lush life that surrounds us reaches it’s full maturity so does the creative fervor in our minds and in our souls. Initiating the summer edition of UNRUSH is a tremendously underrated artist based in the South of France. Kriss Kortz known as Life Recorder has been soaking deep into the collective caverns of our psyche since the mid 90’s with Detroit-tinged releases on imprints like Atmospheric Existence and Aesthetic Audio. Focusing here on the more downtempo side of his collection, he has gifted us with a truly world class excursion that is perfect for these hot summer days.

Our next guest deals in fantastical chimeras, weaving tales around silent winds and languages long forgotten. Wanderwelle are a duo from Amsterdam who have been making waves with exquisitely executed releases on the dub-drenched Silent Season imprint. Their music is imbued with an enchanted sense of narrative, traveling to the farthest outposts imaginable with no intention to return. Through a slew of tastefully selected mixes they have also exhibited a sublime ear for DJing, such that we found it no less than necessary to ask them for a contribution to UNRUSH. So take a large dose of vast, empty space, and meditate on this mix from the one and only Wanderwelle.

A reflection of the particularly dreary summer we had here in Berlin, this mix is inspired by a recent Unrush session at Herrensauna in Tresor Berlin. Tunneling deep into the unconscious mind, it functions as both a foreground and a background, teasing the attention of the listener with a deliberate pacing only Mareena could execute. Such is the relationship our next guest, Jamie McCue, has with the music scene. He is a central connector, working behind the scenes to bring artists together and showcase the very best of ambient and dub techno with his Silent Season imprint. His sound is synonymous with the lightest snow falling at the first sign of winter. It is weightless, radiant, but simultaneously as powerful as the heaviest rain. A dim light appears in the dead of winter, growing and flickering until a narrative of dark and light is born. Our next guest has mastered these icy narratives through the musical passages he constructs as Silent-One. An integral part of the From Another Mind crew out of Stuttgart, Silent-One has formed waterfalls from whispers as he continues to awe audiences with his carefully constructed DJ sets. In 2016 he launched his own label, Intimate Silence, which has since become a platform for artists such as PVNV, Głós, and Dold to explore the innermost depths of their music. In order to thaw us out from the inside, he has put together yet another hour of sonic soliloquy perfectly fitting for this frigid season. Enjoy!

Some forces are so strong they never cease to propel forward. Such is the case with our next guest, Maral Salmassi, who has re-emerged alongside her label Konsequent after a necessary hiatus. With new energy, she bursts forward with colors bright enough to paint the spring, carefully weaving together a musical tale of wonderous proportions. A backbone of European techno and electro distribution well through the 90's, she is no foreigner to the grittier ends of dancefloor antics. We live in a world of transmissions. In a flurry and fluster they shimmer across an ethereal plane, filling our modern world to the brim with information. Our next guest, Antenes, specializes in taking these transmissions to a new dimension with her unorthodox methods of musical composition. Utilizing vintage telephone equipment, she shapes and molds sound as if she were a sculptor. Her work on L.I.E.S., and more recently Silent Season, has been met with a resounding praise and for good reason. Antenes is the ethos of the unknown, the sound that became lost between the cracks. With her skills as a DJ parallel to her music, it was only natural that we ask her to transmit something special for UNRUSH. Enjoy!

Our next guest, Kamikaze Space Programme, explores these so-called "errors" with an elegant diligence. His singular sound has offered him the opportunity to release on renowned platforms such as Luke Slater's Mote Evolver imprint and West Norwood Cassette Library. With a new LP slated for Osiris Music, he takes a welcome turn into more impalpable realms, focusing his sound increasingly on dubbed-out atmospheres. Granular, sculpted sounds drip through your speakers like a digital rendering of spring rain. This is the kind of immaculate, detailed musical architecture that our next guest specializes in. Electric Indigo, also known as Susanne Kirchmayr, has been a staple in the European music scene for over 25 years. During this time she has produced works for concert spaces, clubs, sound installations and occasionally for stage plays and short films. With an inherent sense of diversity present in all her works, she has also made waves with her female:pressure events, which continue to provide a platform for female artists to this day. With her recently well-received album out on Robert Henke's Imbalance Computer Music imprint, she has pulled her sound even further into a distinctive kind of sonic chasm. Impressed as we were, we simply could not resist asking her to provide us with a unique sound bath just for UNRUSH. Let it wash over you.. you won't need an umbrella!

Our next guest plays with tones as though they are a light show glimmering on the wall of a dark bedroom, while the most intimate stories are whispered in your ear. Atariame hails from Moscow, where she has taken the local scene by storm with her hazy, processed guitar work, overcast synths, and sultry-sweet vocals. A recently announced participant of the Red Bull Music Academy in Berlin for 2018, it has become apparent that her raw talent will not go unnoticed for long. Here she has concocted a deep sea dive into her musical world, one that will stand the testament of time and hopefully give some insight into this singular artist. From his drifting, weightless chords to the sheets of melancholic atmosphere he crafts, Fingers in the Noise has proven himself to be a true purveyor of this sound. As profound as any basic channel record, his albums create an expansive space within which the listener can truly exist. Since 2009 he has been churning out the highest quality dub techno and ambient music on his own Fitn Personal Records imprint as well as many others, so it was only natural that we ask him to cook up something special for UNRUSH. Argentinian producer Mekas takes us to this dimension, filling time and space with an ethereal ambiance that is both as striking as it is inventive. His recent outing "Entropy" on the Aula Magna imprint saw him melding elements of immense calm with sharp, distinctive textures. Głós, a Polish-born, Berlin-based artist, is hyperaware of these expressive dynamics, weaving them in and out of his own creations with a singular touch. Founder of the Non-Print label, he has been quietly churning out some absolutely compelling ambient music. At the same time, he has earned a reputation around Berlin and abroad as a highly consistent DJ and producer. Considering his well-rounded sensibilities, Głós' contribution to UNRUSH is unsurprisingly an illustration of enthralling tranquility, drifting through valleys of sound and into the vast spaces of the mind.
