Worst Records opens up a new chapter of its musical odyssey with WORST LTD, the brand new sublabel dedicated to intriguing ambient explorations and abstract experiments released in small quantities on CD.

For this first opus, C. Coiffure is back among us with a deeply conscious concept-album. Born from the idea that mankind is the antithesis of harmony in its relation to nature, and considering that other lifeforms manage to create a balance between them and their environment that we often struggle to fully understand, C. Coiffure pays homage to the organic beauty of these biotopes. « Freefloat » is a sonic continuum where electronics and field recording melt in each other, without any real interruption, creating almost autonomous structures and symbiosis that siphonophores, bee hives and ant citadels can incarnate as well. 
Conceived as a whole, this first album of the new catalogue isn't limited by the illusion of an accomplished perfection and instead puts an awakening light on the nobility of happy accidents and the invisible harmony that surrounds us. An ode to life to start a new sonic saga.

Worst Records ouvre un nouveau chapitre de son épopée musicale avec WORST LTD, son premier sublabel qui sera consacré à recueillir d'intriguantes explorations ambient et autres expérimentations contemplatives et abstraites édités en petite quantité en CD. 

Pour ce premier opus, C. Coiffure est de retour parmi nous avec rien de moins qu'un concept-album tressé telle une fable écologique. Partant du constat que la vie à l'échelle humaine est l'antithèse de l'harmonie avec son environnement, et que d'autres formes de vie parviennent, elles, à évoluer avec une cohérence et un équilibre qui nous échappent, C. Coiffure a souhaité rendre hommage à la beauté organique de ces biotopes. « Freefloat » se présente ainsi comme un continuum sonore où électronique et field recording s'entrelacent sans interruption réelle, formant des structures et des symbioses presque autonomes, à l'image des ruches, des siphonophores, des colonies de fourmis. 
Conçu comme un tout, ce premier album du catalogue ne s'enferme pas pour autant dans la finitude d'une perfection artificielle, et donne à voir la noblesse de l'imprévu dans la création ainsi que la délicate et invisible cohésion qui règne autour de nous sans que nous n'en ayons le plus souvent conscience. Une ode à la vie qui inaugure une nouvelle saga sonore.

What makes a being ? What tends to be, always, and yet remains never achieved ? @jonnnah puts on this set of imagination many parts, many pieces, many elements. In this ninth release on Worst Records, the Lyon based musician gathers all the impressions defining this nebula. « Mental & Physical » is a collection above all things. We talk about a collection of influences. Industrialized trip-hop, dubstep for concrete spaces, new-age-infused ambient daydreams, links are hazy but incarnate. A constant rotation, between extasy and uneasy meditation, shapes this mass of artefacts that seems almost involuntary as they dig so deep into instinctiveness. At the root of this first magmatic opus lies a years long work in progress, a sonic research, the attempt to make live this body of vapour which is the music in becoming. It's a listening with no answer, but the pulse is vivid and vital.

Qu'est ce qui fait un être ? Qu'est ce qui tend à l'être, toujours et pourtant jamais achevé ? @jonnnah pose sur la table de l'imaginaire des parties, des pièces, des éléments. Avec ce neuvième volet de Worst Records, le lyonnais liste toutes les impressions qui dessinent cette nébuleuse. « Mental & Physical » est avant tout une collection. Collection d'influences tout d'abord. Trip-hop industrialisante, dubstep pour tunnels de béton, ambient subtilement new-age, les ponts sont ténus mais réels et palpables. Collection de sens également. Une rotation permanente, entre extase et recueillement inquiet, sculpte cet amas incertain d'artefacts qu'on dirait presque involontaires tant ils creusent dans l'instinctif. A la génèse de ce premier opus magmatique se trouve un work in progress de plusieurs années, une recherche sonore, la tentative de faire vivre ce corps toujours vaporeux de la musique en devenir. Une écoute sans réponses, mais à la pulsation vitale intacte et organique.

WORST009 - Jonnnah - Mental & Physical (previews)

100% of the proceeds from Out of Season will go to headspace, a national youth mental health foundation that provides early intervention mental health services to 12 to 25-year-olds.

Eora (Sydney) based label Theory Therapy presents Out of Season, a collection of immersive ambient and downtempo recordings inspired by place, environment and the passing seasons. Created across multiple time zones and four continents, the compilation consists of several geographically distant but sonically connected underground artists.

The collection begins in New Zealand. 'downpour', by Aotearoa based producer èvia, is a landscape drawing in sound, an evocation of the elements that blends subtle environmental recordings with cascading electronics and gossamer-like textures. From there, the compilation ventures into more nebulous terrain. The expansive ‘Shaft of Light’ is unlike anything you’ve heard from Cousin and Hugh B before, ‘Tar Bae’ and ‘Journey To Urras’ hover somewhere in the interstice between ambient and club music, and ‘Dementia Flower’ recalls IDM icons Boards of Canada if the Scottish duo were to have placed their uncanny samples front and centre. Even the phosphorescent glow of Salamanda’s ‘Hungry Bone’ feels strangely unfamiliar, its simple melody obscured beneath layers of static and hiss as though you’re listening to a decomposing pop song. The inverse occurs on Slowfoam’s track, where seemingly disconnected patterns slowly coalesce, like watching a cumulus cloud form overhead.

The compilation’s second half is a more ethereal affair: a set of meditative ambient soundscapes shrouded in mystery. Reverberant drones, disembodied vocals and haunting incantations from Alexandra Spence, Babyxxan, Match Fixer and Lisa Lerkenfeldt are meticulous exercises in stillness that seem to exist outside of time. Portland artist Patricia Wolf briefly pulls the album back into orbit; the celestial ‘Morning Light’ opens with a flurry of bird calls taken from the musician’s recent trip to Mount Saint Helens in the Skamania County of Washington. ‘In The Distance (Blood Moon Mix)’ by Sydney’s Marco Vella, closes the compilation, the setting somewhere just past sundown, not far from where it began across the Tasman Sea. It's by far the most Balearic-influenced contribution, a track imbued with a sense of forward movement, hinted at by its title and reflected in the song’s subtle interplay of melody and percussion, which glide effortlessly along.

The 13 tracks that make up Out of Season were made in Sydney, Melbourne, Seoul, Austin, Chicago, Portland, Berlin and New Zealand. We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of the Country upon which Theory Therapy and Low End Theorists was founded, and recognise that sovereignty has not been ceded. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and future.

Summer hit missed the summer... While the shadow of the Machine World seems to cover everything, let's drop our clothes and offer our bodies to the sun again. Delicate love for exotica, rythmic freshness, Mathias Kulpinski's music is full of eccentric charm!

When the Notte Brigante fam’ came across his first 7’’ called « Dubz », they immediately felt in love with these twisted dubby sounds and asked him if he had more. The answer was Yes and Dj F16 Falcon kindly sent to us some music. The three tracks are the cherry on the cake of his demos, at least the weirdest ones héhé!

From unruly music to "biscornu" dancehall, Dj F16 Falcon definitely does nothing like the others, the charm of his bugle probably lies in this!

Edition of 300 copies, 7" served in a hand-made sleeve, using linocutting technique then screen-printed in Die, Drome. Out around October 1st, 2021.

Premiere: Weird Weather - Paint [Whip+Lash]

Paralaxe Editions is based in Barcelona, and Ylia (a.k.a. Susana Hernández) has long been one of the city's most well-regarded musicians. A classically trained pianist who came of age DJing breakbeat raves in Andalucia, she easily maneuvers between disparate scenes and styles; she's as comfortable dropping electro and techno records as she is performing alongside experimental flamenco artist Niño de Elche (she's a member of his touring band).


Following her appearances on labels such as Lapsus and Hivern Discs, Dulce Rendición is Ylia's first full-length effort, a cinematic collection of meditative and richly melodic tracks that largely grew out of her intimate live sets. Weaving together analog synths, field recordings and fragments of her own voice, much of the music was directly inspired by her dreams—and more specifically, the seemingly impossible sights and sounds that populated them. Working to recreate their lingering silhouettes in the light of day, Ylia oscillated between moments of deep introspection and playful fantasy as she settled into the hazy space between sleep and consciousness.

Tamburi Neri, a duo from Milan, joins Worst Records' strange catalogue with their debut LP. Soberly named « Ombre », it's an organic entity filled with worry. If we discover again with pleasure their signature scarce and elegant style which drew the tension of their first releases, everything here is sewn as a delicate echo chamber. Hiroko's voice responds to a relentless male spoken word, with invocations sometimes vaporous and sometimes lyrical. It's a poetic canvas suspended over the void and balanced by hypnotic rythms on one side and synthetic avant-garde minimalism on the other.
This eighth pannel of Worst's catalogue sets itself as a contemporanean piece far away from genre identifications and beautifully possessed in equal freshness and enlightening maturity.

Comme un clair-obscur pour temps morts.

Tamburi Neri, duo milanais, rejoint le drôle de catalogue de Worst Records avec rien moins que leur premier LP. Le sobrement nommé « Ombre » est un objet aussi organique que pétri d'inquiétude. Si l'on retrouve ici leur style parfois minimaliste et décharné à l'élégance toute arty qui faisait le ferment de leurs premiers disques, c'est une chambre d'écho à l'incroyable finesse qu'ils déploient ici. Au spoken word tissant le canevas des tableaux de chaque track répond la voix de Hiroko, tantôt invocatrice tantôt fantomatique ou bien lyrique. Une trame poétique toujours portée par un équilibre ténu entre rythmes hypnotiques et minimalisme synthétique aux accents d'avant-garde des temps passés. Ce huitième volet du catalogue de Worst se pose ainsi comme une pièce contemporaine inclassable et habitée, dont la fraîcheur n'a décidément d'égale que la maturité lumineuse.
