Giving a little glimpse into the first Worthwhile Tangents party, we have a 2 hour recording of Aalia direct from the dancefloor!

With menacing basslines, captivating percussion and powerful synths, Aalia had the crowd locked in an emotive groove throughout this scintillating peak time set.

Our next mix comes from @deejay_slug. He can be found co-running the party Maximum Tilt in Berlin, and is one half of the maximalist rave production duo, 'Ecki Pirates’. Containing lots of delightful tracks from himself and friends, this mix represents a step away from typical dancefloor-oriented music to something more off-kilter and introspective.

Awk Cast 063 brings us Ecki Pirates, the tongue-in-cheek breakbeat alias  of @stephenhowe and @deejay_slug, focusing on the Orlando Sound. This mix explores Florida Breaks, West Coast Psychedelica, some Nu-Skool Breakz from the UK and features plenty their own productions.

So our last Musty Mix of 2024 comes from a new close friend of ours that we had the pleasure of meeting back in April this year in his home town of Cluj, Romania.

Centrifug, (Renato) is the man behind the ever-growing and inspiring – Pressure Nights. 

Hosting the likes of Hicham, Trails Bucharest, Vass and Tho to name a few, he is the driving force behind the nightlife in Cluj and is forever on the hunt for new spaces throughout the city and beyond. This mix showcases his extensive record collection with a big nod to the 90s. 

Huge thanks to Renato for his welcomed addition to the series.

After a little hiatus, the mix series is back with our 6th mix coming from the fantastic @stephenhowe. Stephen is a DJ with tangents in all directions tucked up his sleeves, with bouncy minimal, squelchy facemelting bangers and bleepy breaky electro all part of his repertoire, he hosts a Refuge Show and has recent sets out on Awkwardly Social (as 'Ecki Pirates' together with the last DJ on our mix series, Deejay Slug), Astral Cast and Keep Hush. Perhaps seeing himself as more of a producer than a DJ, Stephen has released music on Rhythym Section, Astral VIP & rebirth as well as his own EPs : 'Mimesis' on Welt Discos & his most recent release on Flux White 'FXWL 24A'

This mix is an unusual one from our series, being a recording from a non-worthwhile tangents event, but Stephen got in touch with us to say he was really happy to recently get the chance to play a very free set on a very nice soundsystem at Tresor's Aurora Bar and he took the opportunity to play this grungy downtempo set, capturing all of our feelings of the cold grey Berlin winter - we're super excited to be able to share it with more people as the next mix in our series!

Starting with splashy breaks and distorted bass, with groovy percs scattered throughout, this mix gives way to more organic sounds and the feeling of spring hope as it comes to a close.
