Estimated at 4,000 to 5,000 years old, the ancient yew in the churchyard of St. Digain, Llangernyw may be oldest living thing in the British Isles. It is strangely apt that such a long lived tree - immortal by comparison to our own lifespans - should grow next to a church reputed to be haunted by an ‘angel of death’, known in local folklore as Angelystor.

The text, music and graphic score contained herein bring together folklore, history and personal narrative to explore the auditory world of St. Digain’s churchyard, tracing a passage through the waking consciousness of daytime and into the ‘dark night’ of Angelystor.

2014 has been a great year for space exploration, all the new progresses to the remake of the glorious Cosmos of Sagan made it absolutely delightful. Epecially if you grew up with the love of cosmos and the old Discovery Channel, certain types of music and documentaries can effect you in a even more deeper way, almost relivening the marvel and amazement felt during childhood. We believe this record has a that kind of quality and this was the sole reason we made this.

Asphodel's tracks are hyponic, almost childishly repetitive and naive while KAOSMOS's tracks offer a more cinematic view of space. 'Farewell' for instance could easily blend in the Interstellar OST.

Loopworks brings together Koray Kantarcıoğlu's work composed of samples taken from Turkish records pressed around 60's and 70's.

In accordance, the design for the album came from a similar idea. The album covers which provided the source were first converted into text in WPE and into audio files in RDI, then the images that were converted into text had their codes modified and the audio files were altered by adding effects such as echo and reverb.

This method is also known as databending.

The Hogweed And The Aderyn - Cosmogyral (LP Preview)

A Tryst of Wolves is a project by Gavan Kearney & Atay İlgün. Both were drawn together by a shared interest in the uncanny, haunting aspects of Turkish, Irish & English folk musics, psychedelic soundscapes, atmospheric progressive textures and cinematic touches.

Born in Cork and based in the UK, Gavan has been recording/releasing music under the moniker Sand Snowman since 2005 and, in 2008, his work caught the ear of Steven Wilson who arranged a meeting with the Tonefloat label. Consequently Sand Snowman has released 5 albums on Tonefloat, with a further 3 on Reverb Worship and 1 on Beta Lactam Ring records. Gavan has also enjoyed an ongoing and diverse collaboration with Steven, as well as collaborations with Judy Dyble (Fairport Convention, Trader Horn), Bobbie Watson (Comus) and Theo Travis (Travis/Fripp, Gong).

Atay Ilgun, born in Turkey and mostly known as one of the co-founders of the publishing house Wounded Wolf Press is a musician, producer and publisher. He has released a wide range of work under many aliases such Ashberry and was the half of folk duo The Hogweed And The Aderyn which has released two EPs in 2013.

‘Wound & Light’ is the product of two year’s e-mailings and bouncing of stems/files between the two artists, and is a multi-layered piece in both context and sound that simply can’t be pigeon-holed by a genre. Bringing together and blending each artists’ distinctnesses and flourishing on the fertile common ground, the result is eclectic yet integrated and is graced by sterling contributions from Sproatly Smith, Kim Guy, Jo Lepine, Moonswift, Nancy Wallace, Katy English, Alex Monk, James Vella, A. M. Ferrari Fradejas and Santiago Fradejas.

Murat Akagündüz’ exhibition Vertigo hosted a series of sound events, on 12 April and 10 May. Upon the invitation of Asli Seven and Murat Akagündüz, two musicians, Atay ilgün and Gökce Akçelik have composed experimental sound interpretations of Akagündüz’ Kaf series.

The public is invited to contemplate the paintings while listening to their acoustic manifestations, enhancing in sound the visually resonating effect of Akagunduz’ white-on-white depictionsof
mountain peaks.

Gökce Akçelik’s musical composition takes on the idea of resonance in the form of a sound installation during an entire day on 10 April between 11am – 7 pm. Inviting the public to circulate inside the exhibition space, Akçelik transformed the space into a sensorial landscape with varying resonance effects and enhances our perception of the exhibition’s architecture through sound, in response to the spatial implications held within Akagündüz’ paintings.

Atay İlgün performed a 40 minute experimental sound piece composed by using the scanned versions of the Kaf paintings on view at Arter.

Using the digital data obtained by the distribution of light and color on the surfaces of paintings, Atay Ilgün created yet another layer of digital mediation upon Akagündüz’ landscapes obtained through Google Earth. The performance took place on 12 April at 7 pm at Arter and is conceived as a collective listening session inside the exhibition space.
