Regardless of what people tell you everybody needs a little bass in their life from time to time so for this weeks podcast we secured the services of our go to guy when we’re looking for our bass equivalent of our five a day: Low Steppa. Needing little introduction we’ve long been fans of Low Steppa both as a producer and a DJ.  Since the early noughties he’s been producing some of the finest bass music around under various guises, whilst touring the globe and rocking some of the world’s best parties – from EDC in Los Angeles to Womb in Tokyo.

Not content with smashing it as both in the DJ booth and the studio he’s also turned his hand to running a label with His own imprint Simma Black Records going from strength to strength and finding its releases becoming staples in DJ crates of  many the scenes coolest names. So with Low Steppa about to touch down in London this weekend for a hotly anticipated performance at Ministry of Sound and an arguably even more hype generating set at Global Gathering on the horizon we thought the time was right to see him take the reins on our podcast series. This bold vibe got him to play lots of shows at Thuishaven, Straf_Werk, Amsterdam Open Air, Mysteryland, Loveland Festival, Rotterdamse Rave, Soenda Festival, Toffler festival and he did numerous support acts for major artists ranging from DJ EZ to Fatboy Slim to Dave Clarke. Also abroad Wouter has been invited by stellar clubs like Fuse Brussels, Motion Bristol, Hangar Dublin and Sisyphos Berlin to name a few. This manifests how diverse Wouter is as an artist, as he doesn't like to be labelled one thing or another.
 
Wouter's production life has been on the move as well, with well recognized releases on labels like Unknown to the Unknown, Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks, Kerri Chandler’s infamous Madhouse Records, Slapfunk Records, Shadow Child’s Food Music, Deep Dimension’s Gen-X and of course his very own Kompai label, just to name a few.
Coming up for 2023 is a collab EP with the likes of Huxley on Huxley’s new imprint forthcoming February 2023.
