The perfect Sunday antidote: A Voyage of Spirits by Funky Chap.

Funky Chap, hailing from Lausanne in Switzerland, recorded this set in his little flat overlooking Lac Léman with the snowy mountains on the other side appearing slowly through the clouds whilst the sunshine caused an orange tinge on the clouds.  

With his musical world filled with groove and unexpectedness, Funky Chap’s idea behind this set was to do something different, putting unpredictable pieces of music together, with a hope of bringing about a few smiles and some music that the listeners haven’t heard before.

LIVE // ELEMENTS FESTIVAL 2021 // TRIBAL COUNCIL STAGE

Music consumes a big part of my life, from writing tracks, collaborating with singers and musicians, preparing for gigs, running my record label Smash bang, stressing if its good enough… It goes on and on and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve reached a lot of goals that I set for myself, one of which being able to travel internationally to play music, but there’s many to go and that excites me to no end.

333 Sessions 055 - The Oddness

I originally thought this recording was lost but a couple of weeks ago it landed back with me. There was a definite magic in the air for this set, staged at a particularly lush festival site full of the best of the best, peak festival, the Sunday evening.

This set is dedicated to my brother and dear mentor Daniel Webber who left us a few days before the festival, his spirit lives in this one x

There are 88 species of wren's across the world - each with their own unique sound. Wrens have loud and often complex songs, sometimes given in duet by a pair. The wren sings with soul, chirps with vibrancy and echos a punchy rattling call.
With the ability to hit two notes at one time - this wrens worldly adventures reflects in the sounds of her call.
