About Echo: Echo has over thirty years of experience as a commercial illustrator and educator. She specializes in advertisements, packaging, posters, and book covers, for the most discerning clients. She also has a significant fine art career, bringing her personal sense of storytelling to the public portraying characters from her own imagination.
Echo works both traditionally and digitally and often combines the two, pushing both raster and vector programs to the limits of their design specifications. She graduated summa cum laude from Pratt Institute in 1995 with the President's Award for Academic Excellence. A traditional background in art focuses on skills such as drawing and painting as well as perspective and color theory. This allows the artist to translate their concept into whatever media best suits the job — resulting in a very versatile artist, who is not limited by any one style or medium.
Echo illustrates, designs, art directs, and instructs. She is famous for her passion for detail. Clients praise her professionalism. Collectors world-wide cherish her unique storytelling style. Her reputation as an insightful and considerate contributor to the creative process has earned her countless honors and accolades. She has worked with many prestigious clients over the years, including Celestial Seasonings, Miller-Coors, Jose Cuervo, almost every major publisher, and world-famous resorts. She had the privilege of completing a mural for the Sheikh of Dubai's grand celebration at Godolphin racecourse and made it all the way to Carnegie Hall, signing posters with Arlo Guthrie.
Echo has won dozens of awards for illustration. And since 2019 has been the coordinating judge for Illustrators of the Future, a prestigious global competition for illustrators early in their career. The contest is a platform for established artists to support new professionals in an effort to pay it forward to the next generation. Other judges – past and present – include Frank Frazetta, Wil Eisner, Larry Elmore, Bob Eggleton, and Frank Kelly Freas. She art directs the annual best seller Writers of the Future and, with her husband Lazarus, instructs contest winners in a weekly seminar in Hollywood, CA every year.
