been numb for a while –– this is the equivalent of a weird abstract sketch of my current state of mind. i took some time off for myself and went on a spontaneous trip alone which kind of felt like jumping into the atlantic ocean in a floatie. met people, got lost, watched stuff, talked to strangers, walked and walked and walked and slept and laughed a lot more than i usually did at home. i've been trying to take it easy for a while, i've been trying to ease into my skin a bit more, trying to discover what it really means to truly be alone, and what it means to not want to be alone as much as i did before i left. being home requires a lot of patience i never thought i was giving, and the patience i never knew i had. i think that weird east coast summer getwaway thawed my small, rattling, patchy heart into something a bit more functional. so much that music plays in my head again when i realize there's not too much distance between me and a little happiness, between you and i, between hi and realizing i don't want to go, between that upward step and opening the door. it's nice to feel the blood rush to my palms before a show, or before i wave at you in my head, over and over and over and over and over
