Fun Facts:
* Silver Ships on the Sea was composed by Pok in the summer of 1984.
* It is a wonderful whimsical wistful tale with a drop-D in the guitar - 'Drower tuning'.
* We all loved this extraordinary song from the very first hearing and are very happy to be able to finally release this version.
* We feel it is both authentic to the original, as well as capturing the full spectrum of sounds as imagined and conceived back in the 80s.
* We invite the listener to feel the closeness of the festival crowd, and sense the dry ice and lighting on stage as the performers writhe and invoke under the moon.
* What started out as a pretty little acoustic number about the Elves leaving Middle Earth turned into the most uncompromisingly relentless piece of hardcore psychedlia one could possibly imagine.
* We had two attempts at recording the sea at Jacob's Ladder beach in Sidmouth, but sadly both were thwarted.
* Firstly by strong winds which rendered the recordings horrible.
* The second visit was thwarted by somebody's wretched dog, which barked and barked and barked for the entire time that we were there.
* It was unbelievable.
* It's probably still barking now.
* Eventually we downloaded somebody else's recording of the sea.
* It was a shame but it did the job.
* We had always imagined the flotilla of silvery elven boats waiting at the water's edge at Jacob's Ladder beach.
* Originally the acoustic guitars were played on a borrowed Ovation-style instrument, but due to technical reasons we had to re-record them all.
* The re-recorded acoustic guitar was performed by Pok on his Tanglewood, and there is some video footage of the recording which we hope to publish someday.

Fun Facts:
As this song was being recorded it seemed to grow in stature from something that was pretty ordinary to something that was actually pretty good.
It is a song of healing, fortitude and moving on.
The key is E major.
This was the very first time that George had recorded two-handed tapping.
Several months previously a girl who George was deeply fond of had been forced to move hundreds of miles away due to a new parental job.
When the advent of social media many years later allowed them to get in touch again, it turned out the young lady in question was also devastated by the sudden move.
I Don't Care Now was never added to the repertoire of any band and remained a piece of personal therapy.

Fun Facts:
Four is a song that was inspired by a dream that seemed to have four separate acts.
It had rather a grand scope and several of George's friends seemed to love this song, despite its apparently nonsensical lyrics.
In 1985 it became a part of Wud's repertoire.
George had heard bands such as Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath perform a song where everyone but the guitarist left the stage and the guitar played some sort of solo.
This was incorporated into this song, to represent the time and the upcoming change in feel following an event in described in the lyrics.
The piano was recorded at a very low gain for reasons now unknown, unfortunately.
There is something causing a massive hiss on the vocal mic, possibly a low battery in the Selmer Scintallation reverb unit.

Fun Facts:
This is an art rock/hard rock song in A minor.
There is a break where the chords are Dmaj7 and Fmaj7.
Hard Times was part of the set of Wud and they would use it to close their set.
It is the second part of Flashback, which had three parts.
Richard helped with a few of the later lyrics and the bass part was influenced by what Marc used to play.
There was a drummer who couldn't understand the beat of this song and sat looking embarrased and uncomfortable on his drumstool until the end.
He was sacked after the show.

This song was composed during the early days of Laughing Sun.

Fun Facts:
It's Just a Game was written during the days of Laughing Sun.
An extremely odd situation was starting to unfold.
This went way beyond the normal entropy which followed the closing of a cycle of good fortune.
It's Just a Game is a song of esoteric chords and key changes.
Some of these chords went on to form the basis of the song Lullaby, which came later.
The Electric Mistress is set to the 'red' setting, as used for the song Planets.

Fun Facts:
Lullaby is an extraordinary and unique piece of music composed for electric guitar with a whammy bar.
George wrote this song on 11th November 1985, the fourth anniversary of the day when he first picked up a guitar and wondered how it worked.
The inspiration for this song was a foraging trip on the Blackdown Hills in devon, and what happened afterwards.
All of the music came quite rapidly and the whole piece was composed in a very short time.
There are some highly esoteric and unusually voiced chords in this.
Lullaby was never performed by a band.
Despite that, the song was very popular amongst George's friends after he had written it.

Fun Facts:
What Could It Be? is a strange, beautiful, wistful song.
It uses the filter matrix setting on the Electric Mistress to produce the unusual guitar tone.
What Could It Be? was almost called 'Something'.
That is the name written on the cassette, but not the lyric sheet.
George wrote this song for a new girlfriend after a couple of weeks.
She hated it!

We support all independent musicians who are doing something we find interesting. Our team members all have formal music education qualifications.

We are against corporate brainwash muzak, their puppet friends in the mass media, and many other corporate activities. We will fight their desecration of music until either it stops or we die. 

We believe in helping others in the face of corrupt laws and a broken system. We are pro democracy, green energy and free speech.

We're politically liberal. We cannot support the republicans, maga or gun violence in the usa. We don't see there's any real difference, other than in name, between the christian far right in the USA and the taliban in Afghanistan.

In the uk we are broadly pro LibDem/Green/Labour/SNP. We are VERY anti-tory, bnp, ukip, and any of their friends and associates. We have no trust at all in the uk right wing press monopoly and the bbc. Beware the bbc and its claims of neutrality. It is the propaganda mouthpiece of the tory party. It even charges a propaganda tax called the licence fee. But we like Test Match Special and Radio 6, so does that make us hypocrites...? Hmm.

We support independence for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Cornwall. We support the individual and the underdog. We are anti-putin and his war, and pro-Ukraine.
