Für unsere Reaktivierung unseres Zwischenmiete-Podcasts konnten wir Tom & Arne alias Stil & Bense gewinnen. Welch ein glücklicher Umstand für uns und euch :-) Natürlich haben die beiden nicht nur musikalisch abgeliefert, sondern auch etwas über sich erzählt:

1. Wo seid ihr geboren und aufgewachsen?

Stil: Ich bin ein Osnabrücker Kind.

Bense: Ich wurde vor sehr langer Zeit in einer geteilten Stadt geboren. Aufgewachsen bin ich auf dem Land in der Mitte von Nirgendwo. In Osnabrück lebe ich seit 2001.

2. Welche Musikrichtung hatte den größten Einfluss auf euch und wie seid ihr zur elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Stil: Den größten Einfluss hatte EuroDance der 90er und French House à la Daft Punk auf mich. Und mein Cousin war in den 90ern schon als DJ unterwegs.

Bense: Zur elektronischen Musik bin ich über die Techno-Welle Anfang/Mitte der 90er gekommen und später noch mal durch meinen Doktorvater.

3. Wie kam es dann zum Auflegen und Produzieren?

Stil: Ich bin viel in Clubs feiern gewesen und hab schon immer die DJs bewundert. Irgendwann wollte ich dann auch in der Kanzel stehen.

Bense: Musik machen und Musik produzieren ist einfach eine Lebensweise. Das gilt vielleicht nicht für alle MusikerInnen, aber wenn man ein Instrument spielt, möchte man irgendwann Neues erschaffen. Das Instrument ist dann letztlich egal.

4. Wie würdet ihr euren Sound beschreiben?

Sound ist etwas sehr Wechselhaftes – das ist das Interessante an der elektronischen Musik: die verschiedenen Strömungen und die bisherige Geschichte elektronischer Sounds und verschiedener Genres. Mittlerweile fließt da viel ineinander. Deshalb ist es schwer, das klar zu umreißen.

5. Habt ihr noch andere Musikprojekte neben Stil & Bense?

Bense: Ich singe unter der Dusche :-)

Stil: Ich bin ab und zu auch als Tom Stil unterwegs. So hat meine Karriere eigentlich auch angefangen.

6. Was steht für euch in den nächsten Monaten an Releases und dicken Gigs an?

Im April kommt der Nachfolger unserer Single „Untold“, wieder ein Feature mit Margret. Darüber hinaus spielen wir in den nächsten paar Monaten in Köln (Freigeist am 15. April in Carson City), Hamburg, Aurich, Fürstenau und auch ein paar Gigs im europäischen Ausland sind geplant.

7. Und zu guter Letzt: Was war euer bisheriges musikalisches Highlight?

Das ist schwer zu sagen. Wir veröffentlichen ja viel und treten auf, da ist die Spannbreite groß und es ist schwer zu entscheiden, was man davon als Highlight ansieht. Internationale Gigs sind natürlich immer etwas besonderes, aber auch Auftritte auf Festivals wie der Nature One sind immer ein Highlight. Ansonsten sind wir natürlich auch Stolz auf unsere Platin-Auszeichnung, die wir durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Robin Schulz erlangt haben.

Der 25-jährige DJ und Produzent Solink wurde in Lippstadt geboren. Wenn sich der Wahl-Kölner nicht mit Musik beschäftigt, ist Romolo – so sein bürgerlicher Name – als Informatiker unterwegs. Wir freuen uns sehr über seinen Podcast und sein aufschlussreiches Interview.

1. Welche Musikrichtung hatte den größten Einfluss auf dich und wie bist du zur elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Ich würde sagen den größten Einfluss hatte damals Stephan Bodzin. Ich hatte ihn damals zufällig auf dem „Melt“ gesehen, als mich eine Truppe Holländer mitgenommen hatte, die meinten, dass ich Stephan unbedingt sehen müsse. Damals hatte ich ihn noch gar nicht auf dem Radar, aber nach seinem Live-Set bin ich ein ziemlicher Fan geworden. Er war damals ein Riesen-Vorbild für mich. Elektronische Musik habe ich eigentlich schon von klein auf gehört. Früher noch eher House, später dann so 2016 herum auch Techno – durch Freunde, Festivalerfahrungen und Faszination von der Szene.

2. Wie kam es dann zum Auflegen und zum Produzieren?

Das ist recht lustig: Ich habe erst mit dem Produzieren angefangen und später erst mit dem Auflegen. Ich war damals Mediengestalter aus Hobby und Passion und wollte unbedingt ein Video schneiden. Ich hatte aber kein geeignetes Material für ein cooles Video. Also habe ich drüber nachgedacht, was ich sonst machen könnte und bin so auf das Produzieren gekommen. Damals noch FL Studio, später bin ich dann zu Ableton gewechselt und habe mir meinen ersten kleinen Pioneer-Controller geholt. Seitdem kann ich nicht mehr damit aufhören.

3. Wie würdest du deinen Sound beschreiben?

Ich beschreibe es mal als Melodic Techno mit einem Hang zu Progressive House – das passt glaube ich ganz gut.

4. Was steht für dich in den nächsten Monaten an Gigs und Veröffentlichungen an?

Wir planen aktuell unsere nächste „Nebula“, die im Mai in der Nachtigall gestartet ist. Und es gibt ein paar kleinere Clubgigs und Projekte, über die ich leider noch nichts sagen kann, da diese noch nicht online sind. Ich arbeite außerdem aktuell an einer Reihe von Tracks. Insgesamt ist die Liste der Tracks, die ich gerne noch fertig machen würde, sehr lang. Ich glaube aufgrund der Wartezeit bei Labels wird es daher nicht vor 2024 werden. Vielleicht kommt auch das eine oder andere als Freebie auf meinem SoundCloud-Kanal raus :-)

5. Was war dein bisheriges musikalisches Highlight, sowohl als Raver auf dem Dancefloor, als auch als Künstler?

Als Raver auf dem Dancefloor war dieses Jahr Colyn auf dem „HAWA“ mein Highlight. Allerdings fahre ich im August noch zum „Loveland“ nach Amsterdam. Da sind eine Menge Künstler, auf die ich mich freue! Als Künstler war mein absolutes Highlight damals das „Stone Dance“ in Geseke, da dies meine erste große Bühne war. Außerdem war es früh morgens das Closing zum Sonnenaufgang und da das Open-Air nahe meiner Heimat war, waren ne Menge Freunde und Bekannte da. Das war ein echt krasses Gefühl für mich.

He maintained residencies in San Diego and Los Angeles for several years prior to the pandemic, has been a staple in the Southern California techno and underground scenes, and has performed abroad in countries including Iceland, Ireland, Costa Rica, and Mexico. 

While Dylan has taken a hiatus from performing, he continues to fulfill his passion for music and the dance floor by continuing to focus on producing original music, with several projects expected to release in the back half of 2023.
