Alejandro Mosso’s ability to traverse genre lines makes him a pillar of XYZ’s artistic vision. Through the Sirocco and Promenader EPs, he’s built a foundation at the intersection of deep house, minimal techno, tribal, and melodic dance music. As we enter the blissful months of summer, we revisit Mosso’s latest project with a roster of remixers from across the electronic spectrum. 

TÂCHES needs no introduction to the XYZ faithful. He’s one of the best remixers in the game, and we think we have one of his finest ever works on hand with his take on Parlante. Harnessing the psychedelic nature of the original’s tripped out chops, he brings his own touch of  vocal delight while adding a simply irresistible groove to form the backbone of a magical tune. It has everything - danceabliity, indie instrumentalism, a boastful bassline, and signature hooks.

SDK launched onto the scene earlier this year with the release of their first project - What They Want. With a sumptuous blend of heady melodies and signature vocal hooks, the Vancouver-based duo’s debut on TOR rested perfectly at the centerpoint of underground and familiar. As we step into winter’s grasp, we’ve revisited the project with a revamped touch from two of the scene’s finest; we present What They Want (The Remixes).

Armen Miran is a vital pillar of the deep & melodic scene. With his distinct blend of organic folk tones atop powerful electronica, he’s the godfather of Armenian deep house. Through releases on his own imprint Hoomidas, he’s inspired so many modern producers. We enamoured to welcome him to XYZ, as he whisks What They Want in classic style. Playful house drums get us moving, while ominous synthetics envelop the groove. The vocal chops ebb too and fro throughout the arrangement, with big dancefloor moment’s a-plenty within this Armen masterclass.

Argentina’s invigorating pairing of Nacho Varela & Cruz Vittor has proven illustrious in recent times. They’ve been producing some of the most vivacious & sought-after remixes and edits on the planet, alongside original material on Anjunadeep and Shanti Moscow Radio. The duo comes through again as they twist What They Want to fit their scintillating sound. Swirling melodics stir us into the groove, as a punchy bassline ignites the vibe. A luscious build takes things to another level, offering yet another Nacho & Cruz weapon for the DJs amongst us.

Enamour masterfully stepped into the XYZ fold earlier this year with his debut EP - Forget Your Name. The Romanian maestro is considered one of the most innovative European producers of electronic music today. His catalog is immense, appearing on behemoths such as Gigolo Records and Diynamic, and his sound has inspired a generation of producers. Mihai brings an irresistible groove to Forget Your Name, elongating the flow while meticulously melting minds. The vocal cuts deep during a build brimming with dance floor deviance, offering a peak time tool for selectors.

Motip White continued to chart his own course on his return to XYZ with the Long Shadow EP earlier this year. The Cologne-based producer has never settled for the predictable norm, working his way through projects from all corners of the musical landscape on his eclectic journey. With releases on the likes of Innervisions & Correspondant, Motip's productions drip in analog tones & bespoke indie-punk influence.

Continuing the journey of Long Shadow, we welcome two riveting remixers to take the reins on Motip's original material.

Super Flu need no introduction, as this pair of melodic maestro's is one of the most influential acts in our modern scene. Whether as founders of the illustrious Monaberry, or through their releases with the likes of Stil Vor Talent & Disco Halal, its an honor to welcome Super Flu for their XYZ debut. They twist the title track Long Shadow into a low slung bomb, retaining Motip's jaw dropping vocal chops and the main heaving hook. Super Flu add a linear edge, shifting deep into club territory with defiant dance floor moments on offer.

On the flip, we welcome back a dear friend of the label - Montreal's Dexter Crowe. As a founding member of XYZ, we're beyond thrilled to have Crowe in the driver's seat for Motip's instant classic - Tiny House. The Halaken-head soothes a steaming bassline into a sultry and crisp burner. The Aussie punctuates the original's ominous melodies, while mobilizing momentum via metallic synth-work during an emphatic. With the OG mix already a constant tool for the likes of Dixon and  me, Dexter's remix continues to raise the bar for Tiny House.

In "Structural Disruption ", @ground16 crafts a deeply textured journey that blends breakbeat-infused grooves, hazy pads, and dubwise atmospheres. Double Touch feat. Reigan - Wide Eyed (Flowers on Monday Remix) [Magician on Duty]

Starting 2021 kicking like yer proverbial mule, hot on the heels of The Selador Showcase: The Twelfth Night Part One, we are proud to present, with a characteristic mix of dexterity, alacrity and logic – Part Two! 

Like its predecessor, this second instalment once again puts the spotlight on a whole host of global electronic production talent (2 x welcome returnees, 4 x Selador debutants) and covers a multitude of styles in one essential package.

First, we find hot Russian duo Goom Gum in tandem with Istanbul-based Gaidukova. ‘Freedom’ is a wonderfully constructed riff fest, underpinned by a mean growling bassline. Peak time action.

Next up, the prolific Several Definitions (Switzerland) brings us the magnificent brooding beast that is ‘Boske’. Maximum wonkiness, just how we like it.

UK scene stalwart Kiz Pattison delivers ‘Intruder’ – this particular intrusion is most welcome though as the insistent lead riff burrows its way into the darkest recesses of your cranium. Hold tight.

London-based Rashid Ajami follows renowned for the emotional depth of his productions, and the beautiful ‘The Lie’, in partnership with Dröm, will only help cement that reputation. Proper swish.

Next from Spain, we welcome Martin HERRS & Thimble, whose hypnotic ‘Impala’ is awash with exotic sounds cascading over a pulsating bassline. Deep, unrelenting business. 

And we conclude with Nila, the New Zealand-based Scot adding to his growing stature with Asyn on the yearning vocals for the powerful, instantly inspiring ‘Answers’.
